I’ve bought the occasional low value item from eBay that’s come from China and (not recently) a couple of things from AliExpress- always arrived with no charges.
Now I want to buy something that’s higher value - about £225 on eBay or £250 on AliExpress.
AliExpress says it includes VAT - will I get charged anything else or will it just arrive at my door in a weeks time?
eBay is less clear.
I can buy it from the UK but it’s over £400 for the same thing.

All for supporting local/UK business, but if the savings are significant then it is hard to ignore.
the sellers for single higher value items tend to offer a 'sellers shipping' rather than the aliexpress standard shipping. this may be a little higher, but often includes the VAT and is normally cheaper than the import+vat+UK courier charges.
I've bought a couple of frames from AE, one was c£500 and was covered by sellers shipping, didn't even get a courier fee charge, the other was around £200 and I let AE shipping as the sellers worked out more expensive than VAT+charges. a phone call with DHL or whomever it was and vat/import/admin payment made and received no problem. it worked out about £50 cheaper than using the sellers method, but I think it varies.

I don’t think the UK seller adds much value, they’re just buying them and selling them on. Ease of warranty issues excepted of course.

It’s not much more but the shipping time goes up from next week to sometime in December 😕

No idea. Both claim to be good with returns 🤷🏻♂️
ebay have a service called GSP "Global Shipping Programme" which takes care of all shipping charges & import duties etc all paid up front added to the final purchase price. Check to see if it's mentioned in the Seller postage info. AFAIK Import charges/duty into UK starts at £135 threashold

Looks like the GSP is now called "ebay International Shipping Program" BUT it appears to have been suspended in USA due to the Trump Tariffis
I bought some wheels from AE a couple of months back and went with the seller shipping thing for another £70 which supposedly includes all the costs (and I didn't get any other demands for payment from the courier etc.). They also arrived in a couple of weeks vs a couple of months the AE store was displaying so I expect the shipping date their is a made up/worst case thing.

Following your Link, the seller is using ebay "SpeedPAK" which is specifically for goods from China.

Right and sorry if I'm not catching on but... does that mean the price I see on eBay is the price I pay. No other customs or VAT as long as they say they're using SpeedPAK?
