Morning all,

I have been watching an item (£600) on eBay which the seller has sent me an offer for (£550) and within that is another offer for a further discount if purchasing directly (£500).  The seller is a limited company who are registered at companies house, with accounts filed this year and a UK postal address and if I proceed will be paying on my credit card.

As I understand it this will give me a degree of buyer protection through the credit card while also being classed as an invoiced direct purchase so should it turn have full recourse to a refund etc if there are any issues.  Or would it be safer to stick with going through eBay instead?

I think I’d feel safer going direct with credit card legally defined protection, rather than whatever EBay T&Cs say.

Daughter recently wanted a rotating jig to start restoration of her car.

Guy on ebay had numerous different ones and as she didn't know which would be best we rang him and had a long chat. Turns out you could buy them direct from  him at a cheaper price. Ordered it over the phone. Paid by cc and it was delivered next day

That's reassuring to know as I'm not very eBay savvy and would rather avoid getting caught out.
