Just having a little mooch around the local estate Tesco and came across some dark chocolate. Ooo I'll try that I say to Mrs ws, she casts a glance enough to say here we go again, I have never bought any before but I'm sure all the people that I've ever known eating it were old, such as my nan etc.
Sherry next?
Careful now, youre migrating toward middle-class...
I've eaten it since I was a kid. Not a huge chocolate fan, but definitely prefer dark chocolate. Maybe I've always been old 🙁
Old style Cadbury's dark chocolate is rank, but quality 70% cocoa content is wonderful.
And it's mostly older people who eat it because taste and tastebuds change over time, meaning that savoury things become more appealing.
Se also: Guinness, olives, curry, etc.
Careful now, youre migrating toward middle-class...
Nah, hotel chocolat is where the middle class do their chocolate shop.
used to eat Bonneville as a kid
and my 4 yr old loves Lindt dark chocolate - mint flavoured
so the answer is No
but getting old certainly
No, dark chocolate is the only thing worthy of the name.
Dark chocolate with salt is the food of the gods.
I've liked dark chocolate for much longer than I've been old.
Although I find myself enjoying it more as I get older.
Careful now, youre migrating toward middle-class...
Not until he's adding it to his chilli.
Bournville is lovely! Do they still make it?
Don't mind all the fancy dark chocolates you get these days, but they're not amazing.

Amedei Chuao is nice. Porcelana is too, but pretty pricey!
Pralus bars are mostly nice, and not so steep.
So clearly I'm no dark chocolate connoisseur but this is tasty.

And having looked at the photo not all that good for you 😯
Not bad for a quid tho.
And having a look again are dark and plain chocolate the same thing?
Pralus are all nice, unless you know something that I don't.
And i haven't had it for a while, but that Tesco 74% IMO used to be the best chocolate available for the price.
Lindt 85% here (as far as readily accessible, high street stuff goes).

Bit salty?
I really like the aldi 85% - Moser Roth or something. Also really handy because it comes in individually wrapped little bars. Dipped in peanut butter or coconut oil. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I used to love it as a kid..I'm right off it now, it's the Daim bars for me now.
You're getting old if you have to ask others advice on whether to eat dark chocolate or not on the internerd. Granddad
never go to 80, it doesn't have any sweetness at all
90% from the freezer.
Let it sit against the roof of your mouth till gone.
Mmmmm
never go to 80, it doesn't have any sweetness at all
I don't eat sweets or drink fizzy pop, haven't done for the last 15 years so 85% stuff is just right for me, I get through a bar and a half a week. The 90% has a horrible texture, not sure why that is when the fat content is the same.
Some chocolate is processed with alkali which means less flavonoids so not all are equally healthy.
Do they still sell Old Jamaica?
That is/was soooo good.

😀
Now try melting some dark chocolate in your mouth, and adding a sip of whisky!! Oh yes!!
Dark chocolate gives me a hangover. Well a headache anyway. Is there a scientific reason for this?

Beat me to it.
Try Hotel Chocolat 100%!.
Then hate me forever - ****ing awful!
So I've just had another square with some strawberries after eating chilli. What a complete fanny I am turning in to. Bloody awesome with the sweet nearly past their best strawbs. Enough of this, just Stella tomorrow night I promise!

Waaaaaaay too salty.
I buy that tesco dark chocolate 4 at a time 😳
used to eat Bonneville as a kid
That always left me a bit flat
😆
Bonneville always tasted a bit plain!

Still a long way to go if you are a) entering Tesco and b) buying chocolate from Tesco
I've switched to it recent as it normally contains soya rather than milk, and realise that some of the nice stuff isn't as bad as I expected.
ALDI high percentage chocolate for the bang-per-buck win.
Best I've ever had though was some single estate Trinidadian 75% stuff from Rausch that my wife brought me back from Berlin this Spring. Absolutely amazing. tried to get it online since but to no avail...
Maturing tastes with age.
Proper chocolate
Proper coffee
etc
Dark chocolate was a bit harsh when young but love it now, not that I eat much chocolate or sweets.
Tesco Finest dark cooking chocolate; As cheap as Cadbury's but as nice as Green & Blacks.
I like the 85% stuff now and again but you need tea to wash it down with.
85% is about right IMO. 99% is a bit hard core, like eating pollyfilla powder..
I have always liked Bourneville. Now I find that 60-70% is still a sweet treat, over that is a tasty thing that I can eat when dieting.
The very best way to eat the dark stuff is to slowly suck a small piece then drink coffee. Americano or espresso.
A sign of growing up, not getting old. As indeed is sherry, providing of course we are talking a nice Manzanilla or Fino not your Gran's Emva Cream.
Datk chocolate can help lower blood pressure (is my excuse 🙂 ).
Have preferred Dark chocolate for the longest time, since my late 20's. Lindt is my favourite, plain or the salted one. 70%. Healthier than milk chocoloate and just one (or two 😉 ) pieces with an expresso is perfect.
As above a proper Spanish Sherry makes a great aperitif
with an expresso
WTF? 😯
The aldi 70% salted is really nice and individual bars are great.
Green and Blacks 85% organic, two squares every evening with a glass of full fat.
willie's cacao is devine darrrrling.
The aldi 70% salted is really nice and individual bars are great.
Agree and disagree.
They taste lovely, but I had to unwrap 5 individual bars on Saturday night, then I felt guilty for eating 5 bars, whereas one (slighly bigger) bar is just an individual bar of chocolate 😳

Perhaps you can get one of your friends from Milan to help Jamba with his spelling and ignorance.
Seeing as several are working on the ignorance in the Brexit thread i don't think I'll be needing to put a call in.
