So hard but not terrible off on Thursday led to me being a bit sore and carrying my arm in the classic sore shoulder way. Managed an easy pedal yesterday and was fine but sneezed then spent 10 minutes on the floor in 10/10 pain unable to get up and chest muscle spasm. Popped a couple of heavy hitting pain killers thing ok.

Now waiting after x-ray to see if I've bust my shoulder blade.

Main worry is from my seat I see the the emergency dept word of the day is trepanning.

That would seem an odd treatment for a hurty shoulder but either way, been nice knowing you...

Good luck btw.

I had similar last Friday evening. Front tyre folded over at the bottom of a drop and went down heavily on r/h shoulder. Was convinced Id broke my shoulder blade. Trip to A&E on Saturday morning and they said it was bruised shoulder and ribs, revised 2 days later to 2 broken ribs. Just about regaining mobility of shoulder now, but I suspect ribs are going to be sore for a while yet.

Sounds like you may have bust a rib as well as a shoulder. Friend of mine broke both but the rib wasn't diagnosed until he was taken to A&E 2 later with breathing difficulty.

the Mrs is currently in hospital with a broken foot/leg missed by AE 2 weeks ago (sprained). Currently waiting to find out if it requires surgery.

Orthopaedics are looking on Monday. Although probably just muscular. She said there is something strange at my shoulder area but then I did rotator cuff damage to it a few years ago. It's all about pain management and not sneezing.

I broke my scapula when I spectacularly went over the bars and tried to headbutt the planet at Bike Park Wales in 2017.

My break was “just” a chip through the blade at an angle. A bit like when you break a finger nail, but it peels at an angle rather than 90deg straight through.

I had similar pain levels to you and similar symptoms. Pain across my chest and back, different to ribs though, that didn’t extend up to my shoulders.

Mine was caught by A&E on the day because I was shipped into A&E via Mountain Rescue and Ambulance.

I completely destroyed my left shoulder and shattered my shoulder blade in a fairly innocuous crash in 2018. 2 and a half years later I still don’t have full movement back and was off MTB for 18 months. It sucks. Hope yours is better!

@bigblackshed yeah definitely not rids and I kept saying that although I was holding a classic broken collarbone pose it was fine. Got me out of painting the fence though

Similar to DirtyLyle, I smashed my left one to bits a year past October after a front wheel washout. Dislocated backwards and ripped rotator cuff end pretty much everything else, and broke top of humerus. Took a month till I got it operated on, involving a full reconstruction and metalwork.

Have been doing intensive physio since. Was off bikes for 8 months or so and still have limited movement and power. Achy most of my waking hours.

Swimming was helping up till pools shut at Christmas. Local Nuffield one reopens tomorrow (west of Scotland) and I. Booked in at lunchtime.

The nurse noted that the top of my humerus had a weird step but got a fair range of movement only limited by the intense pain at the bottom of my scapula.
