I'm sure I've burnt it before but didn't know it, but I've just been offered 8 tonnes of sycamore for £100 delivered which would need cutting and splitting.
I've already got about 2 tonnes of mixed woods for next winter but I've got the space for this extra so wouldn't mind taking up the offer.
So is it a good burner and fairly easy to season?
It is excellent firewood. Splits nicely, loses its bark quickly and burns hot when dry. 8 tonnes delivered for £100 is a bargiain

Shame I missed the screw splitter last week 👿
I like Sycamore, it splits easily, well seasoned it burns really well.
I wood
😀
How long does well seasoning take?? I droppped a few sycamores at the back of my garden and didnt really consider burning them as i presumed they would take ages to season properly and even then??
Ive currently got some massive hardwood window frames chopped up (mahogany or teak??) slow roasting the dog in the lounge. Cant believe how long and hot they burn for.
I imagine mixing the sycamore with a harder wood would work well??
Yup, it's not the best but it's perfectly good. We've been burning it for the past two winters and have at least another year's worth in the 'bank'
If you split it now it will be useable by the winter. Even better the following year.
That's a bargain price BTW.
