We're going to be in the Peak District for a few days, and for reasons I won't go into I promised our kids a burger. A proper cracking burger. Where's awesome?

We're based in the south but will be travelling around.

Fishers at Baslow Hall do cracking food, I am sure they will be able to do a good burger

The pub in Monyash was very good pre-Covid

Oh, a posh burger! Can’t help you there, thought you were looking somewhere for your children. Everywhere is so busy with big cars, big bikes and oh, exquisite outdoor clothing! Good luck and roll on travel abroad for others..

Tickled Trout at Barlow do a cracking burger. Not technically in the Peak but close enough. Also available as take way if they're busy. Check first though as they're not on the menu every day.

Not tried the one suggested above in Monyash, but I'd try that just so I could go to Tagg Lane Diary afterwards for ice cream.

Bank House in Hathersage do good burgers. Also do a great Sunday dinner too. And if the weather is nice the seating out front is nice too (but on a main road).

You’ll need to book though (not just here but most restaurants).

Depending where in the Peak you are there’s also Uncle Sam’s in Sheffield which isn’t too far from the north Peak. Long established American diner.

I’ll just echo the idea of going to Tagg Lane Dairy for ice cream. 😻

I don't rate the Tickled Trout in Barlow (and I live in the village). The burger is OK but nowt to write home about.

Mates really rate Slap and Pickle in Sheffield for burgers. Not been myself but they are definite foodies and not been let down by one of their recommendations yet.

Hassop Station, or if its on the menu, the Royal Oak at Hurdlow. Pretty much anything ob the menu at the Royal Oak at Hurdlow.

Which is very close to the Tagg Lane Dairy for ice cream afterwards.

Thee are more country pubs in the Peak District that churn out decent grub than you can throw a shitty stick at. I reckon you'd probably be OK choosing any at random and a be OK, but can always use trip advisor. It's only a burger...hard to mess that up.

Not a fan of the frothy coffees at Tagg Lane though, the Jersey milk is too rich.

You can buy cartons of the stuff to pour over your crunchy nut cornflakes though. Was very disappointed when my lad stopped seeing a girl from Monyash....

Can you film the reaction when you ask for a burger? (Only ever been on a newspaper voucher day but didn’t see burgers on the menu even then - as you say cracking food through)
