Anyone recommend a coating for a bunded blockwork wall around a diesel gen set?
Presumably diesel proof?
for sure, looked at Toughseal but it seems damn expensive!
Plant room paint? Epoxy I think. Sometimes called tanking. Not sure, so I'd recommend you look into it.
You cant use blockwork, it's got to be cast cement. Wall height needs to be adequate to contain 110% of the largest tank capacity as well. How big is this gen set, if it's relatively small (in physical size), it may be easier to buy a polyprop bund for it to sit on. If it's big (i.e. container size job), then ask the manufacturers. Main thing is to have a spill tray at the filling point. Your local fireman can advise as, as any permanent installation where fuel is concerned is supposed ot be signed off - you literally walk into local fire station and ask for the boss and he'll help.
GRP job?
I see plenty of commercial gensets in blockwork bunds. They might be cast inside though.
Check the Genset first - if the fuel tank is double skinned you wont need a bund, just adequate provision to catch spills on filling. It woudln't surprise me what some places do, but having been involved in a new tank farm being set up, the rules are very prescriptive when they need to be (then not when you really want them to be!).
jonesy, if you want some very specific advice i'm happy for you to drop me a mail (in profile) and i'll have a chat with my chief engineer on plant.
Looking through the regs a blockwork on seems fine, needs 15mm render to inside face. It's the sealant/coating onto this I need to suss out, ECS, Vandex etc etc
