Anyone heard of this? Just been on a Youtube wander and stumbled across a hippy bus travelling couple in New Zealand and they just made this stuff.
Its filter coffee, unsalted butter and 'Brain Octane Oil' all blended up to create a 'Fatty Latte', supposedly better than a carby breakfast and keeps you feeling [s]full[/s] not hungry.
I don't know what 'Brain Oil' (I assume its a trendy expensive thing), but in the video they used Coconut oil instead.

Heard of it. Have absolutely no intention of trying it.
i shall call it the " bloody awful" .....that sounds terrible I think you should try it and report back.
I have some russian mates down here in africa that do "home made redbull" before the gym made with really strong over brewed tea , alot of sugar and a proplus ground up mixed in...... It sounds like a heard attack in the waiting to me mind.
Yeh, it's been a "fat adapted" favourite for some time.
I heard it's possible to ride a double century only on bulletproof brews....
Yeh, tried it, its been around for a good few years now and has quite a following, great if your on keto
Superman (not the newest one) swears by them apparently (see nerdist podcast with Brandon Routh)
Is MCT oil, which you can use coconut oil instead which is largely made up of mct's.'Brain Octane Oil'
I often have it for breakfast at weekend made with cacoa butter instead of normal butter and find it works. But during the week a couple of eggs and an avocado for breakfast seems to better hold off the eating caused by work stress/frustration/boredom.
I will report back (once I have acquired the necessary ingredients). I don't have a filter/cafetiere so it'll have to be an Americano or Aeropress...
Been all the rage in Crossfit circles for years...
Never tried it myself, but I don't drink Coffee at all.

I'm amazed the secret got out 😉 I think you can use snake oil too.
I often have it for breakfast... and find it works.
Works to do what?

But you do drink tea, right? 😕

Fuels me up and keeps me satiated.
Someone bought one in the office last year.
Tasted like coffee flavoured melted margarine.
Horrible.
Dunno about bulletproof coffee, but I had a Bulletproof Old Fashioned at Duck & Waffle the last time I was there. Bloomin lovely.
Just tried it. Two sips. Thats all I can stomach. Probably only put a 3rd of the recommended amounts in too.
One wasted cup of coffee. Bleurghh!
A 3rd sip on the way to the sink...without being dramatic, probably the worst thing I've ever tried to eat, or drink. I'm not fussy and will eat pretty much anything, so that is the first item I would put on my 'Hate' list. Sour milk would be preferable...
interesting thread

I shall pass on your 'review' 😆
I quite like it. It definitely helps keep the hunger at bay, I have found you need to find a butter that you like. I know someone who does this with Tea. 😯
heheh 🙂
I wasn't using their fancy pants healthy coffee or proper brain oil, it was Pact beans and Coconut oil.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of grass-fed, unsalted butter
Question: How do you fed grass to butter?? 🙄
Their (snake oil selling?) website has been hacked.
Bulletproof 360 Inc., purveyors of the fatty coffee touted as a wonder-treatment for mental clarity and weight loss, admitted that from May 20 to October 19 of this year – minus one day on October 14 – hackers slurped sensitive personal information hipsters entered when purchasing stuff online. The sipped info included bank card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes (CVV), as well as names, postal addresses, and email addresses.

I dont think it is supposed to taste great (its not bad IMHO) I think people drink it more for the effect/results.
😀 🙂

Obviously - if it tasted nice how would you be able to convince people its a special kind of medicine than makes you feel better than well. Everybody knows that medicine tastes bad (except for Gripe Water obvs) so by the very virtue of being both unpleasant (and even a horrible sounding idea) the only reason people would even be talking about it is because it definitely works wonders.

I haven't drank it a lot, but the Keto community use it as a way of adding fat to there diet.
The theorie is that if you are "fat adapted", then it work wonders.
If you are not fat adapted, then its just rubbish.
Ah, so theres a theory and an adaptation and an in-crowd to be a part of - this stuff is getting more potent by the minute!
🙂
Someone at work bought one, I had a sip.
I couldn't drink a whole one.
To get a similar experience, make an instant coffee and use a couple of spoons of margarine instead of milk.

That would only be bullet-resistant coffee......
If you use coconut oil or too much mct oil it'll make the coffee taste weird/bitter. A little bit of butter in coffee, blended up doesn't really do that much to change the taste. Anyway there's a relevant piece of information which I didn't see mentioned in the above posts and that is that your tastes change on a ketogenic or low carb diets.
After about five days of abstaining from sugar and processed carbs a lot of the stuff that you would usually crave tastes sickly and disgusting, you also have zero cravings for food, and your focus and clarity of mind is noticeably increased.
Bulletproof pulled out of the UK market about 5-6 months ago
Kopi in Singapore has butter in it. It's an acquired taste which I don't particularly wish to acquire. One cup a year is about my limit, usually as the memory fades a little.

What you need is more of the stuff
I had a look at the website - buzzword bingo ahoy! It also made me think of that moustachio-ed Mexican dude that invented the new wheel & frame standards for some strange reason...
I wondered why the kopi/coffee powder i bought in malaya had margarine in the ingredients
Tea in Ladakh has yak's butter in it.
Well since I posted this thread, the jar of coconut oil has been untouched, and it's MCT fat benefits have been called out as a con...the health food places jumped on a research paper and the author doesn't see eye to eye with their interpretation of her results.
Coconut oil is 92% saturated fat, (the same as Beef dripping) two tablespoons and that's your daily allowance gone. And it's missing the good 'essential fatty acids' of Palm oil, butter olive oil and lard, all of which have less saturated fat.
