Where I work we are starting to use a system where we can text, from a PC, to the mobile number. The numbers are in our data base.
But its surprisingly expensive, 5p a text. It might go down to 3.5p if we buy 100,000

Have a look at textmarketer (I think). They seem quite cheap even for low volume but allow some element of automisation and have from experience good support

Its cheaper but but still more than I can buy them from for my mobile which is weird to me
But its not the end of the world
I use text anywhere. Wish they'd donit by direct debit so I didn't have to bulk in advance.
