Ordered some fencing from a builders merchants for delivery who deliver between 7am and 7pm

Night before i get a txt saying your order will be with you between 8am and 1pm, great i thought, the wife is working from home and i finish work at 1pm so perfect

So on the day 1pm comes and goes, so does 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, (wife goes out for the evening) 5pm, 6pm, 7pm and then at 7pm i get a txt saying order delivered and signed for, i have no order here and haven't signed for anything

7.30pm comes around and i go to bed (im up at 3am for work)

At 8.15pm im rudely awoken by banging, i look out the window half naked (top half in case you wondered!) to see two men dumping the fence panels, posts and postcrete etc... in my front garden whilst blocking the road with their van

I opened the window and shouted down saying what are you doing and they just said its your delivery we will leave it here!

There was no way i was getting dressed going down stairs and humping it all through the house (kid under 4 asleep also) so i shouted down that they were 7 hours late and to take it back, they argued a bit then began chucking it back in the van

Spoke to someone on their customer service chat this morning and they said this is perfectly acceptable, even when i explained if i hadn't woken up the delivery would of spent all night and the next day (i leave by the rear of my house) outside in the rain and wind and could of been stolen they said its fine

Complained to the head office who then passed it on to the local depot manager who was very apologetic and explained they use a 3rd party for delivery and will be speaking to them

They are arranging a redelivery at more normal time for me!

Rant over!!

Sounds a bit rubbish but...

the delivery would of spent all night and the next day outside in the rain and wind

Where do fences spend their lives?

This sounds like wickes to me. They delivered a load of broken fencing to me. I think their delivery model is to just ring a man and van who picks the order himself and doesnt give a toss about broken panels etc.

Where do fences spend their lives?

Normally screwed to posts which are cemented in the ground, not free standing next to a road in high winds where anybody could of picked them up and walked away/loaded them in a van

This sounds like wickes to me.

We have a winner! are they well known for this then?

The scheduling of deliveries with a lot of these places is a bit rubbish, especially as you need to be in and sometimes need extra people around. Surely with these big deliveries they know the route. I had a wood delivery recently and it was pleasantly quite the opposite. Person organising the deliveries offered us a choice of days, then said we'd be the last one on the route so around 12 midday. Turned up bang on time.

x a lot,

our customer used them, for 4 doors told to deliver first to her house 2 miles from store so idiot loaded them on first then put all the other deliveries in front of them so did those deliveries first, doors arrive next day, when nobody there, so got returned and damaged, and damaged ones delivered days latter.

As for band q 12 doors to be delivered 12 arrived 6 went back followed by 3 of the 6 then another 2 of the 3, all damaged or badly sprayed, and wrapped in cardboard so you couldnt check them till driver had left.

Final one b and q again 3 doors delivered 2 damaged, phoned local store, no we cant accept them back theyre from the depot, need to re arrange a collection and then a new delivery, but do you have any in store, yes loads, so can we just swop them NO, theyre ours not depots,so off down to store to buy 2 new doors and return 2 crap doors 5 mins later as faulty on same receipt, worked ok.

Always makes me chuckle in the big brand diy shops when you see the doors all stood up.
The sticker on them tells you to store them lying down. Most of the things are like bananas

They probably took offence.

Whenever I go into a Wickes it seems like a business thats struggling. The shop looks a mess, its poorly stocked. It has a feel that its about to go out of business.

@benjamins11, I've felt like that in Wickes for years.
