You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Or some other recentish samsung. Anyone done it ?
Vids on youtube suggest using a heatgun plus quite a lot of leverage'n'shit. My screen is quite cracked and I doubt I can exert too much leverage on the various fragments
Is it going to be worth even trying ?
Some nice wide transparent packing tape. And don't be frightened when heating it.
- I assume you mean to lift off the screen after heating it ? Have you done it ? I like the idea, Tatransparent packing tape
(I'm very "scared" TBH)
To stop the bits going everywhere. Use something like a sharpened old credit cars to get all the glue off without scratching the lcd. Picture a plane/chisel blade made of plastic
ah, gotcha - I've got a screensaver film from a smaller phone over the big cracks at the moment, but yeah.
Thing is, the phone pretty much works perfectly at the moment and I'll be bloody cross if I bust it by doing this. How likely that I (reasonably dextrous but not very patient) **** it up ?
First one I did I severed the digitiser cable. Only ever so slightly. Luckily it was a spare screen to practice on as I'd replaced the lot.
Worst case scenario you buy a £90 full unit and fit that.
Ok, I'm convinced cheers
(Do you happen to know, does it matter much which screen unit I buy or are they all from the same factory anyway)
Ps cross your fingers as a whole display replacement is a really massive pita.
I usually have a look on eBay. Find who's sold the most for a decent price. Don't get it from someone who's sold 2. 200 maybe
Thanks for all the advice
Just get it hot like 100'c iirc. Go slow.
