I've only ever used a cheap fleece neck tube which I've lost so after some recommendation on another thread I want to get a Buff for winter running.
I've seen the Merino versions but they come in three weights light, mid and heavy. Does anyone use the light all through the winter, are the heavier two a bit overkill for running?
I've a light weight one, and it's much warmer than a regular buff. I do run hot though, I use it as a scarf when walking in the hills rather than for any sports unless it's going to be well below freezing.
For you head?
I either use a headband to cover my ears or one of the polyester buffs I've collected over the years, about half of them from the front of MBUK or for £1 in Planet X sales.
I've used an Army surplus "headover" in mid-winter or when snowboarding, they're usually cheaper than Buffs and also really warm. But that's as a neck warmer (snood?), instead of a scarf, I don't usually wear Buffs on my head, I guess I wear a hat if needed.
