As the title – the Co-op Live website is useless and Googling seems to just give me places >25 minutes walk away (I can walk it, but not sure I could be bothered at the end of the night going back). Any suggestions?
Thank you

It's a bit of a desert around there for accommodation. But the trams rock up right by the venue and are well practiced in moving shit loads of people when there are concerts or events. I'd look for something a bit closer to town.
Anything that was budget won't be budget on a big concert night!! 😀
You could try further out and get the tram in, but that would probably take a lot longer than 25mins anyway.

I thought that would be the case, but I can get a city centre Mecure for <£80 (twin room, so £40 each).
Stay in the city centre and jump on the tram there and back. They don’t refer to it round there as ‘Wastelands’ for nothing. Have you tried all the loads of hotels at Salford Quays? You can jump straight on the tram from there
If you do walk it you’ll be ok as plenty of other people will be too, so you’ll most likely make it back to the city centre still in possession of your phone. Probably…
Another vote for city centre and get the tram out. The other option might be Ashton-under-Lyne where there are a couple of chain hotels on the main road / tram line except for the fact that it's Ashton-under-Lyne.
Budget is a relative term these days eh?
As above, I'd use map view on Booking & Airbnb to look along the tram route in or out of town.

That was a concern - but they have that new-fangled walkway now too don't they (well-lit, lots of CCTV etc).
I was there for a concert* last week. Park & Ride from Ashton Moss (parking is free), blue line Metro to Ethiad Campus, last tram back leaves at 1am. You can tap in and out with contactless payment rather than faff about with tickets (don't forget to tap out, I always almost forget). I expect there's a hotel somewhere along the way.
I was expecting the tram back to be an absolute bunfight because, as my partner insightfully pointed out, people arrive in dribs and drabs but after the gig ~20,000 people will all be leaving at once. As it turned out, yes it was busy, but it wasn't nuts. We got seats and everything.
(* - Bruce Springsteen. I was never particularly a fan but it was a top-tier bucket list item for my partner. Tickets were not easy to get and certainly not cheap. Worth every minute and worth every penny, they were astonishingly good.)
Also just back from seeing Springsteen (his 3rd night in Manchester, awesomely good as usual). I stayed at the Upper Brook Street Travelodge. 50 minute walk to the Coop, I'm tight so didn't get a bus. I parked at Q-Park Manchester Hospital, but I think there is parking at the hotel.
Worth every minute and worth every penny, they were astonishingly good.
Seen Bruce and the band twice (including the time at Hyde Park when Macca came on and the sound was immediately turned off, proving there is a god). They're good in't they? Probably the best live act I've seen

I have a theory that some bands are simply live bands. I got dragged to see Muse under duress, couldn't have cared less. They were incredible. Would I run out and buy their new album, meh. Bryan Adams, one of the greatest live performers I've ever seen and I'd sell a kidney for a concert ticket but his studio output peaked at Reckless.
I saw Pink Floyd at Earl's Court on their Pulse (Division Bell) tour. Kinda liked them but I figured, I had the opportunity to go and I'd probably regret it for years if I didn't so I took it. Probably the best stadium gig (in the sky) I've ever been to, it was a spectacle. The band was tight, the sound was perfect and the FX were incredible.
The Springsteen gig, I could nit-pick. The lighting was serviceable, no fancy tricks but it didn't really need it. The audio was clipping at the top end (which isn't their fault and frankly disappointing in a brand new stadium). But the performance, oh my god. For starters I wasn't expecting (if I counted correctly) 18 people on stage. The man is, what, 75 now? No support, turned up on time and did a 3-hour set without a break. I don't use the word "astonishing" lightly. And how have I never heard of Nils Lofgren before? Holy shitballs.

And Max Weinberg isn't bad for a 74 year old drummer.
Hyde Park when Macca came on and the sound was immediately turned off
Well, ten minutes after McCartney joined Springsteen on stage.
Best bit of that show was the time out he took with Jake Clemons.
Worth every minute and worth every penny, they were astonishingly good.
This, there last night and can Bruce Springsteen entertain, yes he can, super night and still smiling remembering singing his songs last night and in the Iranian desert in '85 😊
As we left Coop Live so did the football fans leaving the Etihad next door which meant 80,000+ people to shift. TBH, it wasn't to bad as we caught a bus back to Picadilly and then train home.
So agree hotel in Manchester centre or anywhere on the tram line.
