I quite fancy having a go at mixing but rather than use turn tables wondered if there is anything I can integrate with say iTunes?
Is it is sample as plugging in a mixer into the sound card etc?
Quite a few of my mates use a program called Traktor

Where to begin...
email me (in my profile)... I'll have a long considered think about various different options for you, and give you some advice of different routes to take. Better than posting a long post on here only for somebody who's been DJing for 3 months (12 years and counting, have held a few residencies and run my own nights in the past) to rubbish it...
One word of warning though... If you think bikes are an expensive hobby, start apologising to your bank manager now! 😉
Make your own records instead of stealing other peoples young lad!

If you fancy getting started for free you could do worse than Mixxx
You'll probably want a cheap MIDI controller to control the EQs and faders and such rather than use the mouse. The Korg Nano controllers are ok and nice and cheap. If you can find on on ebay then an M-Audio X-session or X-session Pro would also be a good option.
Oh, and a two output soundcard so you can monitor the other channel before you mix it. No idea on thise at the mo - sorry.
And +1 to mboy - it ain't cheap once you dive down the record collecting (even buying mp3s!) and gear buying rabbit hole!
Interested to hear answers to this, used to DJ with vinyl and final scratch. Was wondering about a controller, traktor and mbp now.

Budding bedroom DJ, what do I need?
A coke habit, an attitude problem and some jockey sluts 😉

It's all perfectly feasible, and is the choice of many DJs these days, professional or otherwise...
Having tried it myself quite a bit though, it's not my personal choice, there's not a controller on the market that gives the kind of control I require is the problem I find though. But that's me being ultra picky... I also find that because I'm poor at remembering names of tracks (but conversely am very good at remembering what the record or CD sleeve the track is on looked like), I MUCH prefer the physical aspect of looking through a CD wallet or a pile of vinyl to play the track I want. iTunes is bloody marvellous (and syncs superbly with Traktor, or most other DJ softwares), but if like me you haven't got a good memory for names, but have a very visual memory, a physical CD or Record Sleeve is a much better solution I find.
FWIW, tried almost everything out there over the years, my DJ setup of choice these days is a pair of Pioneer CDJ's (400's at home, generally 1000's in a club), and a Pioneer DJM mixer. Different things suit different people, and if you want to scratch Hip Hop rather than mix House you'll want a totally different setup...
Is that Scatman John?
Yeah, but Scatman John was just an alias.
Thanks for all the info, should keep me busy for a while!
