Preamble:
I pay for the broadband at my mums holiday house. It's a PAYGo service costing £11.75/month minimum rising to £22/month when we're there (as [s]we[/s] my children use quite a lot of data) - so the average bill is about £17/month.
BT Infinity is now available so I'm changing to this at a cost of £15/month for the first 12 months (then £18/month) + a £100 sainsburys voucher = no brainer really.
Question:
For a further £5/month I can get BT TV which includes a YouView box. Could I use this YouView box and the BT TV at my house (connected to my [crappy non-BT] broadband or is it directly linked to the BT broadband account?
Ahhh, found it - I need BT broadband for BT TV. Shame.
I think the BT TV part is only one aspect of the youview box.
You should still be able to watch TV through the youveiw box so get the catch up and on demand section but just not watch the BT TV part.
I got one at the beginning of this year and have only had a brief look through the BT TV part and just use the youview and on demand and recording facilities.
I think after 12 months you get to keep the box but ditch the TV subscription, so you get the box for 60 quid.
Hmmm. Might still be of interest then.
If you have sky, you can get bt vision through that - just give them the sky card number.
Alternatively get a tmobile dongle ABG buy a SIM card for £5.99 off eBay which gives you a months usage. It says 500mb but also unlimited usage and I have got upto 1.5gb in a month and it still works
Good Luck BT Frigging useless
We booked online for BT TV & Broadband and put in fibre optic
and on the day I gave them a call to see all is OK but they canceled
the installation without even contacting me and then the lady
said she had no idea why it had been cancelled but a few others
had also been cancelled too.
But then asks would I like to again release my Mac code so I can re start over again
so I asked can you do it the weekend as I have given up an holiday. No we cannot >?
BT are without a doubt the biggest set of ****s it has been my displeasure to deal with.
We have got BT Vision and to be honest I can't say that we are that impressed:
Plus - unlimited downloads (had to pay more) on demand I players
Negative: - BT Sport, I thought will get it on the television through the You View box - wrong, you need sky. There is a poor selection of free films. Fairly limited selection of sport on BT Sport
as per above, BT Vision isn't worth getting.
Glad it wasn't only me then that had a bad experience
