I bought a new PC yesterday and it only allows access to a few sites. can open Ryanir but not Rightmove as an example. I've reset it and spent hours last night resetting all sorts of stuff via youtube but to no avail

This morning I've fired up my old laptop and it's got the same issue. I've recently moved and now on BT smart hub so i'm suspicious as to why a laptop that's had no trouble at all is having the same issue as another Windows machine, but my mac is fine...

Could this be a router issue?

This might work - try setting the DNS on the PC and Mac to use google's DNS 8.8.8.8

Bizarre. Watching with interest.

Is it really site specific (ie ryanair always works, rightmove never) or just intermittant connection with Windows machine ? Could be quality of wifi reception with windows machine (ie hardware issue) and you couod try changing channels on router (eg are there a lot of netorks visible so interference)

Which version of Windows? Which browser? Have you tried it with another browser?

I would be checking you are on the wifi properly, ie have a valid IP address for the network.

Can you ping the router... Can you ping bbc.co.uk

Only when basic connectivity is in place then start playing with browsers to see what works and what doesn't.

I'd be checking you're on your own wifi and not a neighbour's hotspot, for a starter.

When you say "new" PC, is it actually new new or second hand?

Can you try a wired connection?

Reboot the router?

Sorry, didn't see that there were two affected machines.

If you ping one of the affected sites, what do you get?

Turn Windows Firewall off (Control Panel > System Security).

Edit scrap that. Didn't realise it was now a problem on the old windows machine as well.
