Those nice BT people are treating me to a free upgrade tomorrow. I'll be going from a HomeHub (4 I think) to a shiny new SmartHub. Any reason I shouldn't use the existing SSID and password to save re-configuring multiple WiFi devices? Password is currently 8 alpha letters FWIW.
No reason I can think of, although I use a Nova mesh so disable the router WiFi and connect it via LAN cable. Useful for when the phone line gets taken down by a tree and I have to use my 4G router!

I’ve moved house and internet providers 3 times and kept the same SSID and super long password.
It's fine as long as you have a good password.
Yeah, I was wondering if the new hub might have a minimum length.
It's fine to keep the SSID - we're on our 3rd upgraded hub and have the same SSID form a Hub5.
The new hub can use the MESH Discs - you can ask them nicely for some - slight increase in monthly fee - we got three mesh discs. You get one to start, then phone for additional ones.
Thread title fails to deliver - a fibre upgrade would be going from fibre to cabinet to fibre to premises. You're just getting a new plastic box 😉
No way to know if the password is any good without seeing it so you should post it up to be sure.
I tend to move supplier annually so setup a SSID that migrates router to router. I chose it after my neighbour whinged about the state of my front lawn - SSID: KissMyGrass

Offhand I can only think of one.
Password is currently 8 alpha letters FWIW.
And that's it. Mine is around twice that length.
Yeah, I was wondering whether anyone knew the minimum password length for that new hub.
It doesn't matter what the minimum is, the point Cougar is making is that if you're going to use the same password for everything, it should be a good one.
I'm on a BT Home Hub. Pretty sure the password can be 8 characters, but don't know if some of them need to be symbols/numbers or whether they can just be letters.
Ah well. It appears I have a blocked duct, so no fibre yet. Might involve some digging apparently.
We're still talking about your broadband connection, yes?
