Certainly bizarre! It was a good watch and I was weirdly rooting for them to pull it off, but what a strange pair they are...

It's got a very David Brent kinda vibe to it. 😆 They've even got the same accent. I'm also thinking they're on drugs of some kind, probably Cocaine.

This is embarrassing to admit but I liked Bros when they initially manufactured.

Strangley my favorite member of the 'band' was Craig the 'bass player'.

I'll have to give this a watch!

Funilly enough my dad made a concerted effort to introduce me to rock music after that!

Just brilliant. Best thing on telly over Christmas. I was still convinced it was a spoof most of the way through.

Boy band version of spinal tap. I too thought it was a spoof but apparently not.

Tragic. The future tour dates were all cancelled

+1 on the reality/spinal tap angle. Who'd be interested in watching a straight-up, serious documentary about these guys? The stranger the better, in terms of column inches.

Whoever put this thing together, was definitely inspired by Tap and Brent IMO.

James Corden's production company apparently.

Absolute compelling television, I really enjoyed it, it was an emotional journey. They clearly have some musical talent and care passionately about what they do, plus they are very emotional individuals.
Questions...
.Who wrote the songs? coz if it was all Matt then Luke should have just shut up and played the drums.. the songs were catchy. Loved the fact that Luke referenced Led Zepplin as a major influence but plays in a facile 80s boy band.
.Where is the Scottish Bass player? he was name checked once but they never addressed it. I always remember the pics in Smash Hits to be the 3 of them. Did he wrong them in some way to have not even been included?
.Hairpiece or Hat?

He's now a major record producer, very successful.
Just to qualify: I read a Guardian article I'm not a fan.

Quite amazing telly. Apparently they gave complete access and had no editorial control. Hence a kinda bizarre (as others have said) sub Spinal Tap documentary. I got to say that their bizarre (almost as only siblings can) arguments were the highlights/lowlights of the show.

Spooftastic and as quotable as anything from Spinal Tap / Brent / Anchorman.

"We are two rectangles that make a square"
"Man you ARE the love of me life"
"They need to take direction even when they are not hearing excellence"
"If we can be conscious of the musicality of it"
"I didn't want to be a charity, so I tried to empower myself as much as I could"
"I'm a man, just gotta strap a pair on and keep movin' "
"My brother's the left side of me and he's the right side of me"

Wonder if the two of them knew it was a mockumentary?

Not seen it yet-any mention of their acting? Pretty sure one of them played a decent baddie in Blade.

@MrPottatoHead - Luke Goss, he was in Blade II and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, as well as a couple of other films...

He played a good baddie in both of those films.

That was odd. A pair of sensitive souls arent they. You can see how negative media attention could get them down. Matts a bit "new age"...

I didnt realise quite how big Bros were in their time.

Really enjoyed it, some bonkers behaviour and really showed an insight into sibling rivalry.

Was actually really good because they had no editorial control.  Wish I was in that good shape at 50

Someone should tell them - when having a conversation, you need to like, not talk occasionally and listen.

I never suspected that I’d be impressed with Luke’s drumming skills. He’s actually a really good stadium drummer with some nice hand techniques.

Couple of boxes of frogs, otherwise!

Well I came away from that liking them both.

They've clearly had a crazy experience with fame that very few people would ever even begin to understand what it felt like, never mind how it would effect them mentally.

There's obviously some real tension there but it's understandable. Just terrible how the press and public take people down in this country.

Where the hell was Craig though? Not even mentioned.

I didnt realise quite how big Bros were in their time.

They were huge but i do remember that the papers built them up to only shte all over them really badly and they really didn’t deserve it.

Read Their autobiography first time it was released crazy no of years ago and it was an eye opener for me how the record companies work.

I rember one of them mentioning they got stick for buying Porsches but the reporters chasing them used to turn up in them.

Was frightening watching the Terry Wogan clips as I remember seeing them at the time.

Brilliant TV proper warts and all. They look great @ 50. Nice not to see a 50 year old with obligatory beer belly and craghoppers fleece.

Admittedly not a fan back in the day but I do remember just how huge they were. The documentary was great and I ended up routing for them rather than laughing at them. I didnt know about their sisters death , they are obviously both very talented musicians . Neither seem to be doing to badly for them selves to be fair .

Absolutely brilliant telly! I don’t know what the film makers were expecting, but as soon as those two opened their mouths they must have realised they’d hit the motherload.

I tend to deliberately keep up from the fleeces as they are such a stereotypical thing 🙁

Both clearly damaged from their experience with fame. Both appear very sensitive and I think they could do with some relationship therapy - from what was broadcast at least.

I’m not sure I’m think the documentary was a good idea, because although I found a couple of bits funny - it felt cruel to do so and certainly I feel they were taken advantage of.

Not a fan of them musically, but as said, drumming is pretty good - if not to my taste - although I can’t get on with the other ones voice at all.

A friend of mine was a "Brossette" and she tells me back in the day the fights between various Brossette factions in South London make the Chelsea Headhunters look like schoolboys.

I dunno that first fight when Matt's sitting in front of the drums Luke says they had been practicing for 6 days before that point and presumably then it took 6 days for an argument to develop. Doesn't sound too bad in my book. If I was locked up for days with either of my siblings it wouldn't take that long to get arguing.

Well that was a wild and crazy ride.

I thought it was largely sympathetic rather than exploitative, though the taking head bits with the absurd proclamations had a slight hint of stitch-up about them.

I was aware Luke had a successful acting career but had no idea Matt had morphed into Liberace.

Just watched it , fascinating. For some reason I just really wanted them to go and get absolutely shitfaced, have a dust up, a kebab and then move on.

My wife, said that if I look like Matt when I’m 50 she’d be delighted. Women, so shallow 🙄

I enjoyed that but was never completely sure what exactly I was watching. And remember they aren't just siblings but twins which might serve to crank up the relationship strife (dunno). If there was a quotient/factor/ratio for defining how brightly an artist can shine versus the time it takes to snuff them out they'd score highly.

All three of them seem to have done really well since the industry used them then spat them out in 89. That shows some real resilience, despite how emotionally immature they seemed to be.
I like Luke, he seemed to be the smarter of the two.

They certainly took their return very seriously, extremely committed to putting on a good show.

Hilarious. I particularly liked the bit bit where one of them wanted the bass player to play like flea. And they only had a dart.
It was the best thing i watched over crimble, after the Torville & Dean docudrama obvs!

I watched it last night after hearing a few people going on about it. I was impressed by the self discipline of the director - it would have been so easy to make them pure figures of fun but that was restricted to a few golden shots of them in their homes.
My favourite was when one twin pointed to a chess set in a rarely visited part of the house and said how he really loved a game of - er... oh, yes, chess.

Best TV for a longtime

Obvious hilarious moments but I actually ended up feeling sorry for them by the end and wanted to give them a cuddle (weird)
