Well, not really, but it's been about 35 years since I last used one.
Had the razor sitting there on the bathroom shelf for a couple of weeks taunting me, while I'm trying to summon up the courage to use it. Finally decided that if there's one day of the year it's suitable to go out with a lacerated face, it's Halloween.
Unfortunately, no dramas to report,a pleasant though slightly time consuming procedure, not quite as close as a multi blade shave, but that'll be practice. A bit tricky under the nose, as well.
Might be a bit premature, but I can see there's a lot of potential paraphernalia purchases here, if it carries on being a bit of fun.
DE?? You mean you shaved? Congratulation on your 16th birthday!
So what you are saying is it isn't actually as good as a cheap multi-blade razor? But you still want to go by lots of DE stuff? Okay. Whatever.
Quality of the shave will be influenced by your technique (i.e. will get better) and the [very much so] by the blades.
Echo what Sharkbait says above, find the right blade and the DE razor shaves way closer than any multiblade (for me anyway). Shaving-shack sell tester packs of blades from various manufacturers.
There are a few bits you need to get you started, but they will last a loooong time. Key to a close shave is a bit of practice and developing your technique. Blades are a very personal thing, when you find one that's right for you, you'll know. You can then order in bulk and get blades for pennies (ebay is a good source) and you can usually find people selling blades for around 10 - 12p each (compare that to ably £12 for 4 multi whizzbang blades for the latest gimmick marketing shave 'solution').
