Looking for basic campsites in nice locations. There seem to be plenty of big sites with loads of facilities but a lot seem to insist on a week long booking. We just want a patch of ground and a toilet block.
I keep seeing mentions of municipal campsites but it's not clear whether you have to book etc.
We stayed at 'camping de la lande' last summer
Great beaches, loads of local walks, easy ferry to Port Louis. Amazing kite surfing to do or watch.

Small super market and a few bars and restaurants on the peninsula.
I really loved this place. They'll sell you fresh eggs, pick up bread/croissants from the local baker in the morning, and it's a 20 minute stroll into town.

Thanks, forgot to mention, need somewhere that's open the first week in June. A lot of sites seem to be opening the following week
1st week in June: The Born to Ride starts 8 June. http://chilkoot-cdp.com/project/btr-2018/
You may well see us all!
Re. Municipal campsites: the clue is in the name: they are run by the mairie/ town council etc. You will find links to the municipal campsite if there is one via the town website.
Or sites like this can be pretty good: http://www.camping-municipal.org/bretagne-camping-municipal.htm
June: within school holidays: I wouldn't bother booking and we live in France if that gives you any confidence.

That's useful to know, thanks

I meant OUTSIDE school holidays!
Outside UK school holidays? Or French? We'll be in France from the 2nd to the 9th June which I think is the week after most UK school half term holidays
Municipals FTW. Spent a couple of seasons working for a camping company, one of them in Brittany, the big commercial sites are lovely but expensive and can be noisy. The municipals we've stayed on have been just as lovely, quieter, far cheaper and populated mostly by the French rather than foreign tourists. They're our first choice for camping. 🙂
Logically outside school holidays is always quieter everywhere for everything.
However I meant French school holidays. Which you will be outside of.
