Does such a thing exist? I know we have lots of great ales in this country but can anyone recommend any decent British lagers?
I discovered one in a drinkery somewhere random like Reading that was reasonable. I bought it purely on the back of the name: "I Can't Believe It's Not Bitter."
You'll want to try this sir! Brewed in Buxton. Tis very nice indeed, and will make you fall over

If your local Sainsburys stocks this, it's well worth a try....

Sam Smiths Do a rather good lager, labeled as organic I recall.
There used to be Wrexham Lager but not seen that for a long time.
Beaten to to it.

Tried all the Greenwich lagers between a group of friends and none of them were well received.
Which was a shame as I was really looking forward to a trip to the brewery.

+1 for the freedom stuff its lovely
I remember my mum buying me some Freedom lager, as it was from the local brewery, and it was pretty horrible. This was quite a while ago now, have they improved ? How long was Freedom brewery existed ?
Likewise I've brought some beers from my now local Binghams Brewery and they were awful too. However it had only been going 1 year at the time.
+ 1 Cotswold Brewing Co.
Run by a friend of mine.
The St Mungo Lager from the West Brewery microbrewery in Glasgow is pretty good - dunno if you can get it any further afield though.
Thanks everyone, will give some of these a try (I usually have a bottle of wine and a few ales before work every morning you see, so I need some more variety).

Available in my local Waitrose here in That London, and also available in Waitrose in Salisbury.
Wooden hands, cornish steam
From Andwell Brewing Company - like good czech lagers and not too fizzy. Nice.
And +1 for Williams Bros Caesar Augustus.
From the Peerless brewing company, brewed in the heart of Birkenhead

Harviestoun Schiehallion used to be lovely. Not seen it for years though.
Bigyinn,
My local Tesco sells it. Like a lot....
There used to be Wrexham Lager but not seen that for a long time.
They've just started to brew it again.
I know the first of the new pints were poured in Bangor-on Dee and I'm trying to think where it's being brewed. I can tell you it's not on the old site.

This must be one of Britain's oldest lagers, brewed in Glasgow since 1885

I make no comment on it's quality but I would certainly advise avoiding the "Super" version.

Yes, all right, most of the fizzy tasteless rubbish sold here is actually brewed in the UK, but it really doesn't rate as beer, let alone lager.
'Tis like making love in a boat... 😀
thing brewdog do a couple
Another vote for Schiehallion.
Joseph Holts from Manchester do a couple of very decent lagers - Crystal is the lighter one, has won a lot of awards.
Diamond, the stronger one, will destroy you mentally and physically, wonderful stuff 😀
Available all year round in the NW.
Okay, not a Lager per se, but similar and definitely worth a try if you get the chance..
