I have tried to find the answer on the BA website, without success.
I have a flight on Saturday, return flight the following Wednesday. I can check in online 24 hours before so that's Friday lunch time. Will it let me check in for both flights, or do I have to somehow find a computer and printer when I'm on holiday abroad to check in for the return flight on Tuesday?
Pretty sure you have to check in separately. But you can do it via their app, so no need to find a computer.
it will only let you check in for your outbound journey - all flights on that.
your return needs to be checked in 24 hours before.
you dont need to find a printer , you can print them at the airport - just use your phone to check in and reserve your seat then scan the email at the ticket machines at the airport or hand it to baggage check in staff.
or just do it the old fashioned way -turn up at the airport.
Ok cheers. I'll get the app.

This.
+ if you want to do it the super modern way, get the BA smart phone app.
Will I be able to do that for me and the wife on the app? There's no way she'll be able to do that on a phone.
yeah so long as they are booked under the same referance.
i check me and colleagues in off one device all the time when we travel and vs versa - the crux is not being on seperately booked tickets - theres probably some way to link them but i can never be arsed finding out.
Yep, with BA it is worth "checking in" 24 hours beforehand, via the app or any other internet connection you can get your hands on (hotel computer?) for your return, just so you can choose your seats together (assuming you haven't paid for selection or are a frequent flyer). You don't need to print out the boarding passes, you can go straight to the bag drop desks and ask them to print them for you. And yes, if the tickets were bought together with the same reference then you can check in both together.
Last few times we've flown BA, the checked in/bag drop queue was many times longer than the normal check in queue. Seems the majority are checking in early now to choose seats etc.
Means if you don't, you might get left with the last two seats by the pissoir...
I wasn't prepared to pay £18 x 4 to choose seats, so I'll do the check in at the earliest opportunity. Thanks for the help.
I thought you could check in for your return flight as long as it was within the 24 hour period? I've done it before with other airlines, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to do it - are you sure it is 24hrs too? I thought it was a couple of days (again, could be getting mixed up with other airlines).
The BA app is very good.
It's 24 hrs before the flight. So if the return flight is less than 24 hrs after checking in for the outbound, you can check in at the same time. Otherwise, 24 hrs before applies.
I check in online or on an app, then collect the boarding pass at the airport, has never failed*
*until I flew recently with Ethiopian Airlines, who don't let you check in online leaving from London, very frustrating when I was trying to get someone else to do it while I was fighting my way through traffic to get there anything like on time....luckily the flight wasn't full and I could move out of my middle seat!
I'll do that, got the app on my phone now so should be alright.
