Anyone know it well? I'm due to meet up with some mates tonight. But will have bike with me. Wondering if there is a logical place to store/lock it?

Also, being a summer Friday evening, is it likely to be rammed?

Cheers

It's a fairly big pub [edit, that on google view shows a lack of railings nearby for bike locking purposes]. The area is busy and fairly OK, I'd be happy locking a town bike there.

Hmm, what about a bike slightly nicer than "town"?

It's on Gloucester Road, it'll be busy on a sunny Friday evening, i wouldn't be locking a nice bike if going in there, not even sure where you'd lock it, round the back at the car park, which is not viewable i think.

If i was going to have to go there on my bike, i'd be tempted to lock it up outside Southmead A&E department, then you have a short walk down the road to the pub, if you want closer you have the leisure centre across the road next to the green, but not sure if it's as 'busy' and monitored.

I know it well. There is a tiny bike rack by the rear garden. It takes 4 bikes but only holds the wheel so you need a cable to secure the frame (if there is space). It's not a great rack but pretty safe as it's visible from the garden, which will be full. They don't mind you taking your bike into the garden if you are sitting outside. Failing that there is a silver birch in the middle of the carpark that makes a handy bike rack, again you'll need a cable and it's visible from the garden. Given the weather I'd give them a call and book a table in the garden, they do take reservations, then wheel the bike in if you are worried. I always leave mine on the rack or the tree and it's fine.

It's right opposite Horfield Leisure Centre where I use to work. I would be reluctant to park my car there never mind my bike....

We're not eating, so booking a table in the garden is not an option. I like the A&E idea, looks like the best bet if I can't get it in the garden.

I really wouldn't bother taking it southmead, it's not that close. Much rather have it near me but each to their own. Not sure if there is a rack at a&e but they have indoor secure parking and other racks near the front entrance to the main building.

Bikes frequently stolen from Southmead Hospital. I wouldn't be too relaxed leaving anything other than a tatty hack in that area to be honest..
Get on a Voi scooter instead?

what salad and red said but if really pushed (and I have had too once or twice) there's some
armco on the side street between the pub carpark and the offices opposite or on one occasion we used the pub's sign in the carpark entrance 🙂

The a&e have loads of bike racks across from the entrance, it’s only a ten minute walk down the road next to a&e going to Gloucester Road.

Weirdly I’ve been in southmead a&e a few times due to biking, but never with my bike 😂

OP here. I was expecting it to be packed to the gunwales, but in reality it was half empty. The rear garden gate was open, I wheeled bike through and tucked it away in the geraniums. Job done. No stress. I was expecting lots. So good result.

Did a 200k ride over to Wales and back after closing time. Back in time for lunch on Saturday. Great weekend.

Ta all for the input.

Yes, impressive after closing time. Where in Wales, and what lights do you use.

Knowing the area, there is an outside chance that he 'mistakenly' swallowed/smoked something and genuinely thought he rode 200K after closing time but was actually amongst the geraniums. 😆

There used to be an Exmouth Exodus which left Bristol at night from a pub. Nearest I got was an ultimately fruitless 20k bmx ride after pubs shut to a girls house.
