I ordered two rolls of bog standard Kodak film on the 10th of August.
Gave them a call yesterday to progress the order.

"sorry it's out of stock we will substitute with [another film] but that's out of stock until some time next week"
Me: "But I placed this order nine days ago, an email would have been good"

"sorry people are on holiday"

Me: "So after nine days you can't tell me when I'll get my film?"

"No."

Cancelled.

BAG OF SHITE or WHaT? GRRRRR

And that is why Amazon are so successful. They have lots of choices of film and I could have it by tomorrow even if I order it at 5pm tonight.

Not cataclysmic but as Kerley says; that's why Amazon is a first choice for many.

I deliberately placed this order with a small independent and got fingered for my efforts.

Film order placed with Amazon.

I would imagine it's them not updating the stock on their site. To be honest the site looks rubbish anyway so it's not one where I'd implicitly trust the stock status.

Plenty of other independent firms out there for film to stop you having to fund Jeff's Space Penis.

I sometimes wonder why the local shops don't also use Amazon. The shops are normally more expensive to buy from so they will still make a profit, even a reduced one, and will be able to satisfy the customer order while they wait for their 'proper' stock to arrive.

If official distributors get wind you're using an alternative supplier they'll stop selling to you all together. Happens in lots of businesses.

I once had a chat with an LBS owner who would buy some items of Shimano kit from CRC, as they sold it at less than the trade price he had to pay from the official distributor.

That made me laugh. Not sure I've had a good fingering since I was about 17. Lucky you.

I would've sent the bounders a stiffly worded telegram.

Think they just assume people who still use film aren't in a hurry. 😛

Placed an order for something with a large online tool seller last Sunday. Item was meant to be delivered on Tuesday. Got an email Tuesday to say items not in stock. Chose substitute items that were almost the same. Actually phoned to ask if they had physical stock. They had plenty. Tried to order whilst on phone but need it delivered to an address that was different to registered card address. Wouldnt let me do it. Guy suggested doing it on the website (which allows delivery to different address 🙄).
They took the money, sent an invoice , but nothing showed up. When i rang them to ask where items were they said they couldnt release order as item was out of stock.

Absolute shower of shit. Surely an online dealer should have an efficient stock system
