Good eh? The bridge has just been constructed at the top of a disused flight of locks at Nob End just outside Bolton. Photographed it today in the light of the setting sun. Shows up the vivid colours nicely.
Perhaps Bolton Council could have spent £90k on a more deserving cause but I do like it.
I don't think its council money, at least not wholly - a lot of projects like this are funded by local developers, they're be a planning condition on a site that will require developers to fund local environmental improvements.
Liam Curtain does some lovely wee projects, he was behind the Northern Quarter regeneration in manchester which I thought was fantasically subtle. The Tide Organ in Blackpool is brilliant too.
I'm back home (Little Lever) for Christmas....I'll go and have a look. Looks brilliant.
James may built the first Mecanno bridge in its home city of Liverpool at the peir head a few years ago.
Mecanno is so versitile, and so good for budding engineers, also 100% recyclable.
