Heard a bang this morning and just discovered the cause, looks like the top row of capping bricks on the garage have come loose.
On the basis that getting anyone in to replace a couple of bricks isn't happening.
What do i need? i guess a trowel and cold chiesel or similar impliments to remove old mortar and apply new mortar.
Then some mortar, i am assuming the premix will do the job? The bricks themselves look ok.
Anything i need to be aware of? any decent youtube tutorials worth a watch?
Premix in my experience tends to be all sand. First follow the advice above, bricks don't just suddenly come loose with a bang. In theory re mortaring them isn't difficult but it's one of those jobs you can make a real mess of if you're don't know what you're doing. A photo of the exploded section would help guide advice.
Its the very top course, exposed on both sides to the weather and the garage is decades old, i suspect this is just age related, I have checked the lower bricks and they all seem to be fine.

Take a trip to tkmaxx or home bargains for the chance of picking up a rolson trowel kit cheap. Watch a few videos on brick laying. Practice on the least visible bricks first. Do a better job on the most visible bricks.

If you can get get away with it, just take the whole course off, then replace with concrete coping "stones"

Almost, it's one side of a sloping garage roof. but that's a thought.
bri9ckloaying is not difficult if you take your time - its doing it quickly over long runs well thats tricky. One course around a garage? No problem.
