So in the post today is a Brexit Party flyer... personally addressed to me.

I have never, and would never, give my details to them. So under the glorious powers of GDPR, how do I complain such that they tell me where they got my details, and delete me from their database?

(Causing maximum workload and expense to them in the process would be a side bonus)

For the record, I'm not on the publicly accessible bit of the electoral register.

Haha. One of them is the ex Marxism Today woman. I got to know some of the Spiked! guys in the late 90s - strange how they’d switched wholeheartedly to being Libertarian.

I think the full electoral register is available to registered political parties regardless of whether you ticked the "keep me off the publicly available list" box. That list is what is sold on to commercial concerns. Parliament also exempted political parties from the Telephone Preference Service so they can cold call you.

We got a personally addressed flyer from the independent candidate prior to last week's local elections.

Return the flyer to them in an envelope with "standard" postage but make sure that it's just a few grammes over the weight limit - they'll have to pay the excess 😋

Pretty sure that's the case.

It’s for a forthcoming election you’re on the register so get information on the parties. Of course they aren’t actually a party but a business as it’s a money generator for Farage.

I had to laugh at the flyer they’ve tried to include as much diversity as possible it’s like a Disney kids show.

It's a shame they don't appear to have a FREEPOST address.

UKIP used to have one. I may have returned some of their rubbish attached to bricks...

i would redact my name, and send it back to them.

here in Germany, the only flyer I've received so far is the one for the former communist party.  that went straight in to the shredder, and then lined the bin, cos I needed something to stop the bottom of the bin minging with teabag juice drippings.

hope you washed your hands well after the misfortune of handling such filth.

Yup... whitestone has it right. They can get your details as an official party (so says the electoral commission).

Like the idea of sending it back wrapped around a brick!

This is one of the unusual cases where GDPR requires to an opt-out of marketing rather than the usual consent to opt-in.

Unless you have told them that you do not consent, they haven't done any thing wrong.

In past local elections I may have forgotten the stamp when returning UKIP stuff to our local gammon listed as the registered address. Stupid, stupid me.

A few years back I happened to live in the Rochester and Strood ward when Mark Reckless defected to UKIP then resigned his seat

UKIP somehow managed to get hold of my phone number and called to try and convince me to vote for him

I didn't answer the call at the time, but googled the number and found out who was trying to call

When they called back again I just declined the calls

I scrawled all over mine, added some lovely additions to NF, and put return to sender on it and put it back in the post.....

I dont see why anyone would vote for a party that want to actively 'rock the boat' in Europe, making a bad system worse just to make a point about brexit.

I received the flyer yesterday despite staying in a very rural area of Galloway with zero chance of a ****ing racist dick-head brexit candidate getting a foothold, so I did the only suitable thing I could think of. I wrote “get yourself to **** you racist pricks” on the leaflet then used it to scoop up a lumpy dog turd into the bin, then placed the leaflet inside a thick plastic envelope and sent it back to them.

If they send me shite through the post then I’ll return the favour

Bricks dont fit through letter boxes, you need roofing tiles!

To be honest I wasn't considering the actual ease of delivery, rather what it would cost them.

Point being you would have to take bricks to the post office and they'd make you pay. You can put a roofing tile in a jiffy bag and pop it in a post box.

You think yours are bad I get all sorts of political party flyers addressed to me just because I have foreign sounding names. Just like you I have never given my details to them. Never!

Worst still I have my local Labour MP jogging in front of my flat who I have never voted for.

🤔

UKIP had a FREEPOST address, hence why I didn't have to pay.
