I have to go there for business in a couple of weeks time - weekend and part of the week. I don't know anything about it at all.
Is it a rough or a nice area? I would like to wander about with my camera some of the time but don't much fancy getting mugged if its rough.
Any suggestions for things to do or see locally (inc good photo opportunities) or stuff/places to avoid?
I have repressed memories of being inside a huge IKEA *shudders*
Matzos, gefilte fish and chicken soup predominate. If you want to wander round get the tube into town and do it there.
Edit- ikea? That's Willesden - rolls eyes
Kevevs - That's Brent Park.
I lived in Hendon and Golders Green (but the bit right next to Brent Cross tube). There's not a lot to do. Hendon Central has a few pubs and restaurants as does Golders around the tube. The White Swan in Golders Green is a decent pub (or used to be) and l'Artista italian at either Golders or Hendon are decent for eats.
I've never had any problems around there but there's not a lot to see worth taking a DSLR out for. Maybe the RAF museum
I won't be able to go too far off as I will effectively be 'on call' and might need to head back at short notice 🙁
I'm sure that's not what it said on the bus, no wonder I have recurring nightmares. Who gets dragged to Ikea and carries all their flatpack and huge plants back on the bus? I still remember that day 🙁 Where's my pills..

Oy vey...
It's mainly quite suburban really, apart from the shopping centre. I'm afraid it may well seem rather boring. I don't think it's a particularly 'dangerous' area
I spose you've got the RAF Museum just up the road a bit in Colindale, and the Museum of Domestic Design And Architecture (What I've never bin to! aP; fancy it sometime?). Hampstead Heath is lovely on a nice day, fantastic views of London from Parliament Hill. Then there's Wembley Stadium to the west. Brent Reservoir Park might be a nice spot to chill out away from all the traffic of the M1. Nip down the road to Neasden and you've got the massive Hindu temple, then a short scoot away in Stonebridge you've got the legendary Ace Cafe.
Brent Cross is synonymous with its shopping centre.
Mostly middle of the road suburbia.
Whats the traffic like around by the shopping centre at this time of year? - need to go right by it on the weekend.
Thanks for the pics and info, very useful.
Going past it is fine. Going TO it is shit. Also, buses to Brent Cross terminate there even late night so be warned that it's really not the nicest walk at night. I've escorted a couple of women from the bus station there over the years who thought that at midnight the driver might be amenable to dropping them somewhere with some lighting but ended up in a badly lit, deserted carpark instead. To be honest I was glad of the company 🙂
Looking at the map, is there some kind of retail park next to the shopping centre too? I see refs to Next which seem to be in the middle of nowhere.
