Got the Bossies in my sweep at work, but I'm really only up cause I forgot to wash the kids school uniform, quite good game though combative.

But why do many "dinks" the commentators are obsessed with "dinking" I don't get it.

Top tip, the footage on www.cbc.ca (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) is top notch.

One of the classic MOTD commentators (I don't know their names) and they show every game, free, with replays of all the matches, highlights packages etc.

Better than any footage I've seen of previous tournaments, apart from the very 'american' half time show.

I'm glad that numpty Jonathan Pearce is being lampooned for making an utter tit of himself last night.

Get back to Robot Wars - you've been over-promoted, son.

All the talk is whether Rooney should play in the next game and if so....where? I think he deserves a chance to play in his preferred position and if he fails again, then time to move on.

I say 'fail' because he's a £300k per week, so called 'world class' player, but when we needed him to hit the target from 7 yds, he completely buggered it up!

Patrick Viera just said we don't want people to shit on the field. I second that.

That's the trouble with trying to pronounce "cheat" with a French accent. 🙂

Killed the game but, on the upside, gave us plenty of chances to see Ronaldo"s *it's not fair the world hates me waaaah" face.

Müller should have been booked, and that incident aside, had a magnificent game. With no team to support, the Germans are my favourites so I was delighted with a 4-0. Pepe should know better than to make contact with another player's head in any game, let alone a World Cup opener. Two arseholes at that incident, Pepe was the bigger of the two. I suspect that the result would have been the same had it stayed eleven aside anyway. Tbh, I'd rather be watching Zlatan than Ronaldo.

Horrible horrible game. Nigeria look like they have some talent. But are organised terribly. A decent manager could probably make something of them...

Thought Lennon was funny too talking about Ambrose. "You can see why I played him as a centre half." 😆 Actually, Lennon has been good in the seat.

No a bad game this. Hope Ghana break down the USA though. I've a natural bias towards the attacking team. The Americans are pretty solid though if lacking upfront.

Is that Robbie Savage co-commentatin? Coming out with some bollocks about how all players should sing the national anthem. Why? You can play for your country without indulging in all the 'patriotic' bullshit.

Good game that. I thought Ghana were a lot stronger, but the USa were very well disciplind.

Klinsmann was singing the US national anthem. Savage nevermentioned tht.

ITV should really spend an extra fiver, and get at least a few other commentator/co-commentators. As unless I have imagined it, Clive Tyldsely and Andy Townsend have done every game.

DD he just said Naughty

My favourite is still this
Such startling levels of ignorance, he should post here

Gabby – Why can’t the spaniards play together, Ruud? Is it because of club rivalries?
Ruud – For sure! The Basques for instance feel no real loyalty to Spain.
Townsend – Well that’s pathetic! The coach should sort it out!
Ruud – Yes, but it’s more complicated than that..
Townsend – No, it’s pathetic! I wanna see what happens they go 1-0 down, see what character they have then!!

French premium tv is streaming they don't do satellite. That's where you see the limitations of broadband capcity when 100 apartments in the same building are watching tv at the same time 🙁

Stupid penalty to give away, the guy was lucky he didn't get a red card

On Spain there was a history of only picking Real players ("proper Spanyards, no Catalans") and the resurgence of Spanish football came when that was thrown out and more Barca players where brought in.

There were 2 covering defenders so unless it was a horrific foul it was always going to be yellow.

Penalty for sure. Can't see how that would be a red card.

Given what we've seen in the games where players have been sent off, I'm all for the refs finding any reason to keep it eleven-a-side for as long as possible. Two bookables, headbutts, dangerous professional fouls, etc...yeah, red card, but if there's any question, I think the ref should keep them on the pitch.
