To be fair they played pretty well.

Shame the Argentina match is on late tonight, they are the team I am backing to win the tournament, Messi and Ageuro are class acts, I am really hoping to see some moments of magic from them.

Does anyone else have problems with the BBC sportsday feed? Ever since they last updated the website about 6 months ago, it is 50/50 whether it works for me or not.

You'll be thinking of John Hartson. Ex-footballer, cancer survivor and all round good egg.

Cheers Jamie; interesting read - still sounds like Rhod Gilbert!

And another incorrect decision costs a team a goal....

Fine by me, I stuck £3 on Swi after they went a goal down. Just one more and I'll be a millionaire (or win £16)

Yup. Let us never forget one incident that occurred 16 years ago.

On the plus side, this monster was fined £20k for the kick, and the money went to a Leukaemia charity. So not all bad.

I've met Hartson a couple of times through a mate who's ex pro and he's a nice lad.

Nice work by the Swiss. Keeping the goals-per-game average up. And putting a bit of oressure on the French.

Come on Honduras! 🙂

I've stuck a couple of quid from my new fortune on a Honduras win; that really is pushing my luck!

Ok, I have just re-evaluated the teams that I think will win the World Cup.

They are now: Netherlands or Germany.

Teams I don't want to win the World Cup: Brazil (host nation should not win) or Argentina (because their President keeps wanting the Falklands back - stoopid woman is trying to gain hype for self promotion).

Still predict England out in the first round because they lack individual skills but is a good betting team. 😆

I was just going say: That kit is truly awful. Plus, from a distance they look more like le Noir, than le Bleu.

I'm thinking we see the [s]first[/s] second red card tonight. And it'll be to a man in white.

Quite possibly, dude. As you well know, Pereira was off for Uruguay last night, against Costa Rica. So we are probably due for another, given there was 17 red cards in WC 2010.

[townsend]What he's done there is pushed the attacker. Right in the back. And the ref's given a penalty. That's what he's done.[/townsend]

Jonathan Pearce is terrible. He's like that Dom Joly character who gets angry at everything. His lack of understanding of the goal-line technology was comical.

Why does Jonathan Pearce get these jobs. Its simple if you just shut your f'ing mouth and think about it. There were two incidents; one not in, the second in. Simple.

Jonathan Pearce has a very good voice and delivery for commentary, but he needs an autocue.

Annoyingly, Conor McNamara & Pat Nevin are doing the 5Live commentary, so would much prefer to listen to that. But lose HD if going to the red button.

It's like Phil Neville all over again 😡

How was the second goal controversial?

But surely there should be more debate over the goals that were not awarded to Mexico & Switzerland for being offside, not a goal that has shown that goal line technology works & has made a difference.

doubtful if frances second would have been given if not for the technology, the ref has to be sure, if there's doubt, no goal.

consider that the goal was about 2 cm over the line, I'd say you'd have to concede that it worked well in this instance.

beyond that though, I do agree with having tv refs or something like ruling on decisions that happen in the box(6yard atleast).
