As I said on an earlier page, Belgium really haven't done much in this tournament.

I would go as far to say they are the new Swiss.

Marc Wilmots must have put some effort in to drill the natural skill and flair out of players like Hazard and Mertens.

Yes, they are playing a dangerous game by 'winning ugly' and late. In as much as you can ever say this, teams that do this 'deserve' to lose eventually. If the bloody yanks could put away a chance in front of goal it would force Belgium to inject a bit of oomph.

The common theme so far is teams who are 'underdogs' and put up a good fight, are constantly undone by lack of finishing.

Probably go the same way tonight.

Danny - we've been making the same comment in every game too. The way Algeria played would have absolutely demolished England!

'The future of English Football' looks remarkably similar to the recent past of English Football... absolute shite!

Yes, I'm afraid so. Unfortunately the premier league has sold its soul to the devil and now having to dance to the tune. The only thing that really amazes me is how 'talented' 'young' English players attract some kind of premium in transfer deals. Surely the transfer market is the most 'perfect' market going? (That is the technical 'perfect' by the way). So surely a lot of the overrated young English players should be found out before transfer time?

Whatever, it doesn't diminish the point that on a one game basis I would back any team in this tournament versus England, with the possible exception of Honduras, but (with a blood thirsty referee) I reckon they'd 'do' England as well.

Can anyone tell me why the bbc make up department stop Chris Waddle's foundation an inch away from his hairline? It looks like he's had a scalp transplant.

Anyway, slower start to the second half. I sense the Belgians are luring the USA in, trappists that they are.

You could get a spray tan and do the Al Jazeera keeper's look. Neither of them are anywhere near as good looking as you though binbins.

This isn't about England per se, but everyone else. USA have players of the quality of a Stoke full back, and Fulham's second best player. Algeria have players who weren't able to get a regular game for Watford. Nigeria have players who were swapped for Kenwyne Jones. FFS, why can they achieve when we can't?

Because none of them spent the warm up to the World Cup filming adverts for shampoo, and vile butties, and concentrated on the more important business of doing what they get ****ing paid for?

So far in these last 16 games, all of the underdogs have given the favourites have been given a game. Even in the group stages the so called weaker nations held their own for the most part.

I thought Gary Linekar asked the most pertinent question at half time.

"So Rio, Fellaini... I mean, what is he?"

US and A play quite like England. Belgiums movement is quite impressive.

England have a load of average players that dont move.

Eh? They're attitude is as different from England as is physically possible. They're rock solid at the back. Organised. Committed. England's defence is a shambles!!!

USA has defended like lions.

Now I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the finer points of football, but I'm not sure about this. Sure, they were brave and committed and great at clearing balls off the line, but for that to be necessary they let the Belgians slice them to pieces. Almost every break resulted in a quality shot, requiring a dramatic save or goal line clearance.

Surely that means the defence is rubbish?

i have to say its probably the first game in a while where the play has been quite fair.. several times I thought the players couldve gone down in the box for a penalty but stayed on their feet.

Visions of robben rolling about or excessive timewasting has stangely been missing which can only be a good thing.

The end of all these games has the feel of the last 2 rounds of a boxing match. The feet won't move properly, there's no attempt to get away, it's just a case of standing in the middle and throwing punches and hoping to connect.

What a world cup this is.
