Before we get too carried away, let's not forget. Engurland could be in the same situation tomorrow.

Yeah - that would be typical of England to even miss out on being the best of worst...

the plane is setting of down the runway now

I wouldn't get on a plane with them, the thing won't make it off the ground without exploding.

Anyway, it's our turn tomorrow at the hands, er, feet of Suarez

I'm only going to moan about this once, so here goes: As someone who couldn't give the slightest **** about how the England team is preparing, or training, or whatever they're doing at the moment, the constant 'updates' during and after games that having nothing to do with them is very very annoying. Please, please just talk about the game being played!! Rant over.

canny say it bothers me. The media have one team to focus on due to the shitness of the other 'home nations', so....

I agree, it's really annoying wh.....THIS JUST IN. ROONEY HAS JUST SCRATCHED HIS ARSE. I REPEAT HE HAS SCRATCHED HIS ARSE. REPORTS THAT HE THEN SMELLED HIS HAND AFTERWARDS ARE UNCONFIRMED...en one if force fed the England team info when I am perfectly happy watching/learning about other teams.

How did the #4 miss that?

Also, Danny Murphy gets a hefty thumbs up for co-commentator and pundit.

Must be horrible to be a Spanish fan, 2 nil down and who have you got to call on from the bench, Fernando Torres, a player who's been off form for so long you wonder if he ever knew how to score goals...

We really do need to see refs being able to stop the clock for injuries (like in rugby). I'm right sick of winning teams spending the last twenty minutes rolling around. 😔

I'd rather the ref just stopped the clock, then there'd be no arguments, no point in rolling around when not injured and accurate time keeping even if the injury is authentic. I am specifically talking about the times when the ref blows the whistle for an [s]almost dead[/s] prostrate player.

Superb performance by Chile, that. I don't think anyone's going to fancy playing them on that form.

Torres was as reliably useless as ever. And now Chelski seem to have signed another 'spaniard' (sort of) of the same vintage (hopefully)

Can't quite figure out where it all went wrong for Spain. (Apart from losing their first two games obvs.)

Is tick tock dead? Have other teams just figured them out? (Holland and Chile certainly pressed them more than I'd seen anyone doing so previously.) Lack of a decent striker or over reliance on a new centre-forward based system with Costa, who's been beyond shit in the two games, and replacing him with the even shitter Torres?

The death of tiki taka?

Costa was awesome all season for Athletico. Didn't look fit in the two games and I wonder whether he's chuffed with his decision to become Spanish šŸ˜†

both Holland and Chile played with a back three and wing backs, whether that has any thing to do with it šŸ˜•

Spain.. just seemed lacking in energy, pace and desire. Dented confidence and psychologically not on it. Possibly a few selection mistakes.

I was thinking through that match, they needed Negrado to smash his way through that defence, they had little physicality and power in the team, bad management to not have some tactical options available. It was plan A isn't working so lets make a sub and give them more of plan A.

dunno, but this world cup seems to be seeing the proliferation of an extremely fast and direct passing attacking fitba that I'm really enjoying. More power to it!

seemed to be a lot of spanish "faux" fans in the stadium , soon as they saw themselves on the big screen it was all smiles and waves, I'm sorry you've been dumped out of the world cup and you team are playing rubbish.

This IMO has been the best World Cup ever , my previous favourites were 82 and 90. Spain have been found out just as Barca have in the champions league this year. I think Brazil are no great shakes and should Chile beat Holland in the remaining game the dutch would dispatch off Brazil in the second round. The Dutch , Germans , Italians and French all look good and It's great to see some of the smaller south American teams doing well.
Despite being a jock I really hope England dispatch Uruguay tomorrow as , as always they are a dirty bunch of barstewards. I'm also looking forward to see the old master Pirlo commanding things In the Italian side. He is easily the most majestic player since Zidane.
All in all a great World Cup which could be made better If we could just get rid Of Adrian Chiles from ITV.

Just been talking to someone who's dad ( who's a bit of a gambler) had a serious punt, before a ball was kicked, on Chile to win it. At 50-1. I doubt you'd be getting those odds tonight. I'd say they've as good a chance as anyone I've seen so far. Watching holland struggle against Australia, that's going to make for an interesting game.

This World Cup has been bloody brilliant so far!!!

Two excellent games tonight, this world cup is getting better and better.

Feel for Australia who deserve more than to be going home. Chile where magnificent. Spain where lacking a real threat, even when they got ahead against Holland it was workmanlike and they've looked vulnerable and you cannot win anything if your shipping 7 goals in 2 games. I hope Australia sign off in style.
