Any tips on freeing a brass temperature sender that is stuck in an alloy housing. I can get a socket on the sender but am scared i will break the alloy housing it is screwed into with too much brute force.
thanks

Heat - alloy will expand faster than brass just...
Try and tighten it a touch before you start to try and loosen it...
Impact driver last resort....
Try ACF50 which is an anti-corrosion spray which should help dissolve the aluminium oxide which is effectively jamming the brass piece in place. Alternatively, a strong alkali solution e.g. caustic soda will do a similar job if you’re not worried about destroying the alloy part.
Before someone mentions Coke it contains citric acid which will just make it sticky
Penetrating spray, then either heat or cold (ice cubes?). Also a good wire brushing with dremel or similar to remove as much external corrosion as you can. Finally use a six sided socket (not a 12 sided one), as the 12 sided may round off the brass too easily. Also I’d try alternately tightening and loosening (just barely trying to move it initially).
Thanks all. Soaked with No nonsense penetrating fluid for a day and then applied a little heat came free easily
