We have a Bose wireless speaker which is great quality sound, but the bloody Bose app that it uses to connect our iTunes library from the PC to the speaker is absolutely crap!

Every time the app updates I have to constantly disconnect and then reconnect the speaker to the wifi and PC etc. I have lost count of the hours spent on forums trying to get answers and if I knew it was going to cause this amount of grief I would never have bought it!

So now I am going to put our tunes onto an mp3 player and play it through the AUX port.

Any suggestions for a mp3 player with a decent screen size? I don't want Apple.

Storage space of least 64GB or more, or with the option to add micro sd card.

What about an android phone? Plenty about second hand that will have the attributes you’re seeking.

you sure, I didn't think Bose made anything with 'great sound quality'... ?

It's always engineered to impress instead.

Bose pah!

Seriously though I’ve had mk1 soundlink mini and version 2 then a bigger version and they’ve all been shite since I purchased a rockbox bold l which can charge your phone

It’s a real beast compared tothebose though in size and power etc
15hrs run time and waterproof

I'm having the same grief, bluetooth link works fine along with the preset radio stations but trying to link 2 speakers together is driving me to despair, uninstall/reinstall no joy the app is a piece of sh*t, it is just not user friendly.

The answer is any tablet or phone with space and a 3.5 mm head phone Jack. I've wrestled for a long time with the best kitchen music solution and have decided to stick with wire to avoid all this grief

Not sure why people feel the need to tell you what you were like listening to isn't any good. I'd day keep enjoying what you like

We have a sonos play 1 in the kitchen, Spotify through mobile using Wi-Fi, works perfectly.

For balance I've recently stopped using Chromecast audio as it was hard to control (via Android) often not seeing groups and there was a crackle at low volume with Spotify.

Moved to Yamaha MusicCast, which is ok, but the amp has problems when you've been casting to it and then want to use it for streaming TV, needs to be set via the app, powered off and on again and have the lip sync setting manually applied after each use as far as I can see (hoping for a firmware fix in the not to distant future).

Sonos was terrible connection wise for me too. So overall I'm yet to see that anyone is getting it right!

Yep, just because Sonos didn't work for you (for whatever reason) then it obviously must be crap for everyone.

Amazingly I have >8 Sonos speakers over two houses and everything works perfectly.

Naim muso. Supports natively airplay 2, chromecast and a host of other streaming options.
A very pricey solution but works really well.

Chromecast, I have loads and the issues are usually to do with wifi signal. Fix that and they are reliable and super flexible. Can play any source through them.

I have a revolve + and use my android phone with Spotify, mixcloud, SoundCloud, built in MP3 player with no issues over Bluetooth

I think I saw it here, but BOSE stands for "box of sh!t electronics"

I saw a review of their new noise cancelling headphones and they guy had massive issues with the app and Apple but got it working when he used an Android phone. Seems odd as you'd expect BOSE and Apple were a similar target audience.

I cannot vouch for their other products but the revolve+ by speaker is incredible for the size, I am really pleased with the sound from it.

Not quite my point sharky, I'll take the bait though. I found that I would often not see the sonos device as something I could connect to through the Andriod app, this was inspite of the device playing music at the time (so clearly connected to wifi). I think the design and sound is good, I think the integration with apple music and spotify is horrible. I just got fed up of not having control of the speaker, I did not at any point refer to it as crap for anyone. Better? I also pointed to Chromecast and MusicCast as flawed, I've used both of them too, but that didn't seem to bother you.

I think my BOSE is great. Made sure I got one with one of those wire plug in thingys to avoid such problems.

I like the BOSE sound. I like their products.

I’m not keen on Bluetooth though, I find it unreliable and full of charming idiosyncrasies no matter which devices I’m trying to pair.
