Tis about 3 years old and was chugging along nicely this afternoon until it suddenly decided to stop. Sod's law given that it's the first cut in 4 weeks cos of the weather - so we now have a lawn that's part trimmed and part afro.

Isn't the fuse nor anything around the trigger mechanism, so am thinking it must be the motor. But IME they've always shown signs leading up to blowing, e.g. smelling, stopping then re-starting after cooling etc.

Any ideas from the mechanical types? Replacement motors seem to be £100 or so, therefore hoping it's something else otherwise I may as well buy a new mower (yet more expense this month 🙁 ).

it has a thermal cutout that will stop it workign if it gets too hot or is overloaded.

If you unplug it for about an hour it shoudl reset itself.

might be worth a try.

after that then it'll be takign lid off and puttign a multimeter across motor to check it's getting current.

[edit] if it is the cutout then raise the cut height and do the lawn in two passes.

Yeah, I was hoping it was just overheating. But had been cutting on double-height to ease the strain and everything was fine. And that was now a couple of hours ago and still no start.

Will see if I can grab a multimeter off a mate. Ta
