New kitchen and new appliances: 2x ovens and hob, and fridge/freezer. Went with some fairly high spec Bosch models as we’ve got Siemens ovens/hob in the old kitchen (same as Bosch) and they’ve been really good and reliable, despite approaching their 15th birthday. However, both the main oven and F/F are not working out of the box. They’ve been installed for two weeks, hooked up electrically since Wed. Came to use them last night for the first time and noticed that the F/F was not cold, and the oven does not heat up. Both have power, lights on, displays/modes etc all working, but neither appliance managing their primary function. Have I just been really unlucky or have others noticed a decline in the quality of Bosch group products?

I stopped buying botch ( might as well leave that autocorrect as it is!) 9 years ago after my cordless drill chuck exploded, my SDS drill lasted only 2 holes and our washing machine gave up.
Yet another German company trading on the (undeserved) reputation for quality.
( which may of course be because they've moved so much of their production abroad 🙂 )

We just bought a Samsung washing machine after 20 years of LG. Amazing according to the reviews. Best machine out there (etc). It feels cheap, it's noisier after three months use, and has a crap seal design which has torn already.
I think it's a general thing these days - everything is designed to a) budget and b) lacking common sense
Building stuff in the far East doesn't have to equate shoddy products. It'll be down to design and testing which is the responsibility of the European part ofvthe business.
OP have you read the manual, particularly for the oven. I have vague memories of thinking ours wasnt working but it was in the wrong mode or something.

In the interest of research for the drill thread - where I cited similar Bosch related drill problems.....were they green or blue ?
Our fridge freezer lasted 5 years before it went pop. The repairman said that they, Hotpoint and Zanussi and all pretty much identical so with the Bosch you are paying more purely for the name. We replaced it with a Beko.
1 dead on arrival is unlucky. 2 is unlikely.
Exactly my thoughts Jambo. Spent a lot of time online, fine/tooth comb through the manual etc. spent another 90 minutes on the phone to Bosch customer services who took me through the diagnostics and concluded that they were both Kaput. Service guy/gal out on Tuesday to have a look.
New fitted kitchen? Who did the electrics? How did you test the appliances? Seems an unexpected and odd coincidence, irrespective of what brand they are. You could just have been very unlucky, but I’d be suspicious of a connected problem beyond the appliances being the same brand.
This is going to sound silly but stay with me.. have you set the clock on the oven?
We had a Siemens oven/grill and the grill part would not work unless you set the **** clock! All the lights and what not came on so I just assumed it was goosed. Nope, I had to pay the repair man’s call out charge to set the clock on my oven 😂
Oh and on the quality point. The soft close on our new Siemens combination oven packed in at about the 9-10 month mark.
Our Zanussi does the clock thing as well. It’s so that in the event of an interruption in the power supply, all heating ‘elements’ are off when the power comes back on, and won’t turn on again ‘till someone engages with the appliance (ie sets the clock). No bad surprises then. It’s confused me a few times.
Oh yeah, did all that. Read the manuals cover to cover several times just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Then spent ages on the phone to tech support who bacislly did all the same checks… they are def not working.
Electrics wise, did consider that. But even got the sparky back to check and he confirmed they are all good. Both ovens and their own separate supply back to the MCB. Fridge is on a ring main running other power hungry items: They work fine, but even isolating all those the fridge still won’t cool. The compressor is definitely doing something (can hear it) but no refrigeration!
My Bosch dishwasher lasted a year, my Beko 2 so far. So twice as long for half the price.
