I seem to have killed the charging socket on my iPhone SE II.
Couldn't get the lead to connect - it just wouldn't go in - in trying to plug it in I've obviously pushed whatever was stuck in there further in. Fished it out with a pin - not really sure what it was - but it was very jammed in and had to be scratched out bit by bit.
Anyway, up shot is phone won't charge or connect via the socket - still charges wirelessly.
Is this a cheap fix?
You sure you've got everything out?
Keep scraping away with a cocktail stick (not metal pin!) - pocket fluff can get very compacted.
Been charging super slow wireless on my Pixel 3xl for about a year. Just spent 5 minutes with a cocktail stick and now I have fast usb c charging again! Was about to buy a Pixel 6, thanks for the money saving 🙂

My eyesight isn't good enough to tell!
I cleaned mine out today at work. I roll up a piece of tape and poke that in. Worth a try.

there should be a fairly positive click/engagement. if there isnt, then there is probably still fluff in there.

There is now, think it's cleaned out.
However, only one lead can wake the phone up and only on one side and it refuses to charge.
I suspect I've damaged the contacts,...
I recently had to replace the charging port on my 6S as it refused to charge one day (it had been temperamental for while). The battery was on it's way out too, so got that done at the same time at a local phone repair shop for £60 for the lot.
If you can't sort it yourself and you do need the socket fixed then get it down to a local repair place, no need to pay Apple a fortune for it. I've used they guy on Waverley Steps in Edinburgh for a few same day repairs, always good and always cheap.
Brilliantly he employs someone with a big sign to stand around outside the Apple store, the sign has a big arrow on it pointing to his shop and says "Cheaper Apple repairs, this way".

Good to know it's pretty cheap...

Can’t emphasise this enough! I’ve seen people on here advising using a paperclip! Nooooooo! I use bamboo cocktail sticks, they’re a bit harder and stiffer than wood, and they do a good job of hooking fluff out of the socket.
Trouble with USB-C, is it’s almost impossible to get anything out of the socket like compacted fluff, or water, because of the blade in the centre. Plus if water gets in there, it’s just as difficult to dry it out, as I found once with a work tablet that I’d been using outdoors all day in pissing rain.
Without veering too far off-topic, what is the wireless iphone charger of choice these days?
(Maybe put a cloth over the charging port of your SE, and some gentle hoovering to remove the lint?)
Or would blu-tak work better?
For such electronic accessories
I always go to anker. I’m using an anker wireless charger and psu that I bought direct from there web store, working well for a few years.
