Bought expensive coat from Blacks ebay site (as it was £50 cheaper than on their actual site -why?)

Didn't fit (annoying in itself as my wife is a 12, ordered a 14 to be safe and its still too small!)

Read T&C's and whilst website stuff can be returned to store, ebay site purchases cannot. Only offered Royal Mail labels as return option. Rang up helpline to say look there is a strike on, its chaos and my expensive parcel will likely be lost or very delayed. Please can I return to store or at least post using my very reliable work courier. No and No as you won't be covered if it goes missing - please use ebay system.

Posted two weeks ago using ebay printed label and parcel has disapperared into Warrington never to be seen again as predicted

Deadline for refund passed and ebay asks do I want to raise a case? Am I right in assuming I onl;y get one shot at a case and all they will do right now is say parcel not delivered , tough luck case closed and then thats it for me via ebay resolution? So should I wait or contact Royal Mail?  Arrggh so frustrating as I just knew this would happen!

It’s Black’s issue then. Raise a dispute.

Raise a dispute. They won't just close it, in fact as a seller its a pain to get a case closed without the buyer agreeing. I suspect it'll be fine eventually either with blacks or ebay refunding but get the case open now and don't close it yourself until you are happy

Heh, this just popped up in my Google news feed.

https://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/news/23199768.turmoil-packages-pile-warringtons-royal-mail-depot /">Chrimbo chaos.

I reckon it's going to be a little while if you just wait for the post OP!

The eBay store and high street stores will be probably different registered companies, id have thought it's to do with selling discounted stock and fiddling the numbers for shareholders etc?

Raise a case with eBay, you'll get your cash back.

As others said, raise a case pronto.

If you paid for the Royal Mail label, raise a lost item with them.

If Black's supplied a prepaid label, it's down to them to deal with Royal Mail.

Blacks/ebay supplied a prepaid label which they were going to deduct out of the refund. Hence I only had the choice of RM.

Thanks all, seems I should open a case then rather than wait another week or so.

Raise a case I think - it’s their label so their problem.

They may hide behind Royal Mail who are currently advising 3-4 weeks for deliveries but ultimately it’s their contract with the courier not yours.

I had 2 items I ordered from online shops and both dispatched on the 5th December - both had gone to Royal Mail but neither had been scanned in so you couldn’t track where it was. One got scanned overnight last night and is in Northampton - the other still hasn’t been scanned yet. It’s carnage with the strikes.

Case opened and immediately put on hold by ebay until the end of the year. Good job I didn't need the money to buy another size or anything!  I guess this is happening to a lot of people.

You need to make it clear that you returned because it wasn't as described. If you'd ordered 2 sizes and were sending back the one that you didn't want, you pay the postage, but if they say it's a 14 and it's smaller than a 12, that's their fault and they pay the postage. But you may be happy to swallow that if you get a refund at all.
