As it says, we are stuck in this dump of a cottage with rain forecast for the foreseeable future. Are there any games I could play on my phone like those empire-building games? I hate my laptop so it's got to be on the phone.

Among us.

It's what all the cool kids are playing these days.

As it says, we are stuck in this dump of a cottage with rain forecast for the foreseeable future.

You're Scottish now.
There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

Put on a coat and go for a walk. Enjoy having sky with walls.

Not empire building but Pinball Deluxe Reloaded is brilliant.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is great on an iPhone and takes ages to do all the missions.

Also Transport Tycoon for a long slow burner of a game.

Both are paid for games with no further in-game purchases

It'll be at least another 8 weeks before you need your big coat.

Second Perchy on 'Among us'. My 11yr old is indoctrinating me tonight, so be quick as it'll no longer be cool tomorrow. One of my middle aged MTB mates already plays it with his kids and their mates and he's not cool.

Second Quagmire's suggestion of Monument Valley and it's sequel. If only because the graphics are very, very pretty for a mobile game.

There's shitloads, you're going to have to be more specific.

iPhone or iPad? Single player or multiplayer? Shared devices or one each? Local play or online with friends? Portable versions of board games, quizzes, puzzle games, something else?

Quell+ by Fallen Tree Games

Best game ever on my phone. It’s a ‘zen’ puzzle game. Elegant, beautifully designed, progressively difficult, addictive. Replayable. More availabke in the series. Ticks all my boxes.

Also rans:

Whirly Word

Pin Out

Angry Birds

Absolutely the best game I’ve ever played on my phone is call of duty mobile, the single player battle royal is so addictive.

I like Achikaps.

Complicated enough to make you think, no ads (I think), and weeks worth of levels.

Tinder.

As your married I'd advise the single player option.
