Need to replace both struts on my car. Eurocarparts are £31, eBay coming in at £12.

Are the eBay ones any good?

I just picked up a pair from ebay to replace a knackered one on my Hyundai - seem OK so far in the 5 days I've used them.

I got some for my Vectra, rather than being limp wristed they were a little over powered and would fire the boot open!

I've had a couple They've been fine, just match up the eject force if you want to avoid an uppercut!

I'd say no. I bought some for my 3 series and they rusted out within 6 months. I replaced them with some genuine OE BMW ones and so far, after 12 months, perfect.

Last year I received a recall notice to replace the tailgate struts on my 58 plate Mazda 6 estate. Naturally, I booked the car in to my nearest Mazda dealer who did the work and another recall for the drivers seat subframe replacement while I waited.

Exceptional after care service, especially as I bought the car the year before and not the original owner from new.

My point being, perhaps check to see if there is a manufacturer recall for your make and model for your tailgate struts.

^^^ crikey, that’s not my experience with Mazda. Owned an 07 Mazda 3 from new, had a DSC issue just outside of the 3 year warranty and they didn’t want to know. After providing extensive proof of it being an issue I finally had them accept it was an issue and even then they only offered 50% towards the cost. Still, it’s 13 years old (almost to the day) and nothing else has gone wrong so I shouldn’t complain really.
