errrm, I agree with muppetWrangler as to the content of the video.

My mind was for want of better expression thinking how much fun you could have with her. But I don't really see that as being bad or any different to all those women who 😳 when Linford Christie used to run the 100 meters.

It does seem that there are some guys that need to accept that blokes like sex. So do women. And that to some extent we all objectify the opposite sex as we consider the genes that they may pass to our offspring or just simply how much you'd enjoy... well, you know. 😉

Is it really that bad to say it?

I can accept people like sex. My problem, and I assume the mods as well, is the lecherous and misogynistic way this is often displayed. That video that was posted was fine to me, it was the comments that came later which is the problem. It was getting to a point where any post about a female would almost certainly steer off into 'hanging out the back of', 'banging their back doors in' etc territory.

Just seemed a bit crass.

The swearing filter nonsense on the other hand is just stupid tho.

Out of interest Jamie which sort of comments? I know the explanation of why the thread was removed. I'd just like to know whether or not my comments are ones that offend you and ultimately get threads removed, therefore allowing me to modify my behaviour.

It's not bad to say it, its not bad to look.
It's pathetic and juvenile to use the aesthetic and althletic, black and white tastefully filmed excuse when it was ultimately about titillation.
Yes, lots of people may do pole dancing classes, but if you want people to watch, it helps to be sexually attractive, and to be able to stretch that tight white underwear.
Not appropriate for here.

Much as I like to have a dig at Jamie, I couldn't agree more with the above.

What a pile of poo the whole swearing thing is too. I suspect an advertiser has a problem with something. Only money could motivate such Puritanism.

Also, I've noticed an increase in female posters recently correlated with a clampdown on sexism and misogyny. I could be imagining things of course.

If you want to look at women with few clothes on and leer at them then I do believe their are sites for that sort of thing.

Pole dancing has one connotation in our society, and that's pretty much the start, middle and end of it, and as I said earlier, given the activity of the mods this week, the timing was at best ill advised, and at worst; clearly baiting...It was only ever going to end one way.

It's not bad to say it, its not bad to look.
It's pathetic and juvenile to use the aesthetic and althletic, black and white tastefully filmed excuse when it was ultimately about titillation. Not appropriate for here.

Thanks to TJ, nickc and crikey for the above. Of course I agree wholeheartedly with them.

It's beginning to resemble a playground here, a sleazy one though. Some threads can be quite demeaning to women and, yes, I'm well aware that some women demean themselves. I'm not a feminist, I've been on this Forum a good few years but this stuff is just so immature.

Women have been reasonably accepted on here and, indeed, we sometimes get asked for our opinions on 'what bike for the missus' etc. I feel we add to the general bonhomie and long may it continue.

It has been mentioned that there's been an increase in female posters. They will surely disappear after all this nonsense. Your loss.

Please ... if you want to look at this kind of stuff ... go elsewhere.

Thank you.

I agree with cinnamon girl. I understand this is mostly a bloke's site. I don't mind the swearing and the cheeky banter is fine. But really you have to understand that this is a rare site where girls are pretty much accepted without the usual nonsense. I can really do without having my nose rubbed in it. Ok?

Jeez guys.
My wife and several other ladies, mostly pretty "well bred" went to a hen do recently- one of the things they did was pole dance training. They all loved it and were amazed at the core strength (three are physios) of the instructor.

How about the idea that not all women who appreciate "looking good" are near porn stars eh?

Or maybe we should ban topless male boxers, those tight shirts in rugby, etc, etc.

Some of you need to lighten up A LOT.

While that pole dancer wasn't my cup of tea visually, she was VERY VERY good at what she did - utterly astonishing core body strength, balance, etc.

Can we not just appreciate that? In my eyes it's just another form of gymnastics or ballet.

Oh so it's my fault is it?

I would hate for girls to not feel accepted here (on alternate days I'm one) C_G is right it would be the forums loss. I'd hope any comments I make show my appreciation for people rather than be degrading?

Without wishing to sound sycophantic, I agree with the ladies. They shouldn't have to tolerate 'Sun reader' posts: 'Phwoooar look at the...' and 'Would you?' type nonsense. We're not 8 and ladsy stuff is a bit silly really. Nothing to say about pole dancing as I didn't see the thread.

darcy - how's that pup of yours today? Bet she's turned you into a right softie with her feminine charms. 😉

boblo - the silliness has always been here and I hope it won't go away. But unfortunately this particular subject encourages the blokes to almost outdo each other with pics, ribald remarks etc. It becomes competitive!

TJ - how can I be a feminist? I love men too much. 😀

Surf-Mat - so if middle-class women do it, that makes it OK for public consumption? Codswallop! There's a time and a place and this Forum is NOT the place. Actually there's nothing worse than middle-class wannabe's trying to be 'right on'. 🙄

Surf-Mat :

Now that would be some crazy logic.

You are missing the point I fear.

If you remember, what you posted was:

....and yes I am paraphrasing:

"something about not being your type as she does not have enough bappage"

Whether you were leching over her or not is not the issue, for me at least. It is the reductive attitude and language used. Now, in of itself that probably would be a minor annoyance, but there has been a prevalence of this type of attitude on STW of late and I guess the mods have just had enough.

CG - so you were happy to comment on semi naked bloke pics a while ago (and found a load of your own) but this is somehow not allowed?

This reminds me of racism. You're allowed a "black" music station but if a "white" station was launched, there'd be uproar.

Same with overly PC feminists - fine to lech over blokes, but make some blokey comments on pics of girls and without fail, the PC crew come galloping in muttering self righteous nonsense.

It's actually extremely damaging this whole lack of balance and IMO excessive pursuit of PC purity is actually worse than the thing it's trying to "cure."

Man up, cut the bleating and get real.

Hey CG - maybe they ENJOYED it. Maybe they were simply HAVING FUN. If that upsets you, it's your loss.

There's a standing joke here that a lot of the posters are middle aged middle ranking IT managers.... Clearly the majority are not in the 8 - 18 age groups but some of the nonsense reads a bit like that.

I've passed a couple of other forums by that are populated by that age group and I find the exchanges banal to say the least.

If the mods are trying to flush out the sexist nonsense and make this a home equally for both sexes, that has to be a good thing, doesn't it?

Matt - try to think. Can you hear that wooshing noise - its the point flying over your head.

You are one of the worst offenders and your leching is offensive to many of us. Your comment on the pole dancing thread was well out of order

I suggest you either join the ethos here or go to somewhere where your casual misogyny and puerile childishness is appreciated.

Distinct lack of any awesomeness there Matt.

Got a daughter? I do.
Get tired of the casual sexism, the casual accepted lechery, the assumption that it 'doesn't matter' it's 'only a bit of fun'?

Get tired of the way that women get judged first and foremost on their attractiveness, and only then on any other qualities?

It might be a LAUGH. You might ENJOY it. Hope you're having FUN.
But other people might not, and part of being a GROWN UP, part of being a MATURE, RESPONSIBLE ADULT is recognising that, and responding in a SENSIBLE way.

See?

Surf-Mat - you are being naive if you believe that this would have stopped at one video clip. It's like a red rag to a bull on here and, as I said above, it becomes competitive.

No feminist PC stuff from me, just a balanced view which you seem unable to comprehend. Funny though, other blokes on here 'get it'.

Yes, I'm quite sure some did enjoy it but this is the wrong place.

Oh TJ, you try so hard to fit in don't you?

You try so hard to be a cool dude, one of the gang, right on, etc.

It's absolutely hilarious how much each post reveals about the "real" you and anyone with half a brain (many here have spotted too) can see right through you.

Please never leave though - you are one of the true legends of STW. Not for the reasons you desperately try to seek but for the unintentionally comic genius moments you so often and inadvertently create.

I salute you sir TJ, Knight of STW.

CG - fair comments and I see where you're coming from.

Surf matt - I don't "try to " be anything. I am what I am - the product of my genetics and my upbringing. No pretence, no bullshine. There is nothing to see thru. Ask those who know me in real life.

I would be arguing exactly the same point even if it was me against the rest.

I think that killfile might just be handy.

TJs a founding member of the STW thought police, but in this instance, whilst he still does it in a patronising tone, he is on the right track. There's a line of acceptance. Its not a thin one and it's not defined by any individual. It naturally has to be set at a lower threshold than "Pub" level because this is a more open forum than a pub. As long as it isnt wound all the way down to puritanical, we'll just have to live with it.

to be fair as much as I like pole I agree with CG, I know this is the chat section but it's still a bike forum. There are loads of places you can look for any other videos you like...if you post a video with someone dancing around a pole its only going to attract childish or rude comments which is probably what the OP of the pole dancing nurse wanted?..

I still want to see the video though!!! It's like a secret that everyone knows about and wont tell me!! It will drive me nuts

Can I also ask why so many are questioning the OTT swear filter avoidance system?

I will answer that Matt.

The post was clearly in breach of the rules

IMO simply deleting the thread and warning the OP would have been enough - no banning required as as far as I am aware he is not a serial offender. I don't see that "why so many weren't happy with the decision to delete the vid"

The swearing one is a different thing and agains IMO the mods have gone too far. However i do think some censorship of swearing is a good idea.

Because it seems the only ones still on here are the painfully self righteous, mind numbingly pious gang that are so hopelessly hypocritical and divisive, it actually reminds me of some kind of Catholic style religion.

It's at this stage that I realise it's a Friday night, there's a nice bottle of red calling and that I'm wasting my time.

Still, nice to have a little debate, whatever the final outcome.

It seems that every few years a bike forum self-destructs through a mod vs rebel argument uk-mtb had some struggle like this a few years back. I'm not sure how it was resolved, but I think the mod finally got laid and realised how empty his life had been up till then and so retired immediately, does anyone else know more?

Phil should never have been banned. It's pretty disgraceful that he has.
Maybe some comments were crass (I dont think mine was and I didnt see them all), but thats not phils fault. People can interpret things whichever way they want, some of which are not suitable for a public forum. To ban him for an innocuous post is unfair IMO, but I cannot comment on wether the thread shoud or should not have been pulled.
Surf matt's right on this occasion, it stinks of those searching to be offended.

I did start writing a comment on that thread about her athletic ability, but it had already descended into a Carry On thread, so didn't bother.

There are sites where I'm sure you can find other Pole dancers, clothed, or otherwise.

No one has pointed out yet that you have to wear next to nowt or you can't grip the pole. The whole exercise works on the grip of skin on the pole, you can't wear much clothing, try doing it in jeans and a jumper and you'll just slide down the pole.
I've never seen it done for erotic effect and that vid was definitely not erotic, but the implication is there unfortunately. It even has been performed on Blue Peter (STWs new owner according to a post above), possibly by that lady, but the BP producers didn't quite get the physics behind it and she had to perform fully clothed, which the perfomer/gymnast later said in interview was a bit of a farce.
Phil should never have been banned. It's pretty disgraceful that he has.

However, there was no good reason for phil posting that thread, other than to push the bounderies or purely in cheeky reaction to what is going on at the mo, the subsequent comments were no more or less than he probably expected. I wonder how long ago he went to nurse college with that lady and why he chose to post it today?.
