So we're going to the Alps end of March/beginning of April Saturday to Thursday. Lots of apartments there don't rent out for less than a week, and the ones that do actually cost more for less days.

I am happy to pay for a full week but paying more to stay for less time seems a bit silly.

Does anyone know of any penalties that can be applied If I book somewhere for a week and leave early? They'll still be getting the full weeks fee, so I can;t see there being any issues really, but my wife is paranoid and in turn makes me confused as well???

You'll be fine, I've done it before without issue. We told reception when we checked in our plan and they didn't bar and eyelid. Makes no odds to them at all.

Just make sure you do tell them your plan, don't just sneak off. That way if there is any damage or issues after you've gone then you won't be liable.

Radical idea I know, but you could just ask them?

I’ve booked places, changed plans during stay then left early with no issues. Always told them up front, just in case they want to come in early to clean etc.

Doubt you’re going to find a cheaper place for shorter stay, most I’ve used block book for a week/weekend type, unless you go direct an know someone out there.. obvz

But then they'd want charge me the extra £150 to stay for 2 days less than a full week!

Just make sure you get evidence of leaving early so if a naughty receptionist sublets the room for the days you're not in it and it gets damaged it's not your problem and you have evidence to show that you vacated.

Yeah good point.

We've booked one now. Apartment complex with a proper reception so should be ok for checking out properly.
