Have a Bookers next door to my work, and have access to the works card. Just wondering what is actually cheaper to buy over there? Colleagues have said not to bother going, as supermarkets often have it going for less.
Was looking at general house bits such as tea bags, dishwasher tabs etc.
Does anyone use Bookers to get bits? does it work out cheaper to go to the supermarket?
Depends on if you mind buying in bulk. Everything will be at least 10% cheaper than rrp and upto 40%. So it depends on what half price deals the supermarkets are doing. Most things are in bulk and look at the vat price rather than the price shown.
I use a scanning gun as I go around so it tots it up for me with the vat price included.
Things like baked beans and cans of coke are cheapest if you buy multi packs rather than individual cans, and cases of pmp (price marked pack) items are again around 20<25% cheaper than supermarkets.
Dishwasher tabs are much much cheaper than supermarkets as they usually have a BOGOF off on the catering size packs.
We use it for cub/scout camp purchases. But then we need the massive quantities so it's definitely cheaper for lots of chicken, sausages, bacon, black pudding etc. Yeah - get the massive black puddings. Sod the tea bags 😉
Love black pudding, I am sure I can fill the home freezer up with that!
Do not mind buying in bulk, we have the storage, but would not buy things that would go off unless freezing.
Some stuff is cheaper, others less so. When comparing with the supermarkets check the size of the equivalent item as we find that the supermarket version is often smaller especially with chocolate bars, crisps etc. Worth a look but your savings will depend on what you're after.
