I'm pretty much deaf in one year (fused bones so sound doesn't conduct very well), but back in the day before hearing loss I used to like listening to music through headphones.
I don't get on with over-ear ones (get feedback with my hearing aid), and wondered what the sound quality of bone induction ones were like. Do you get a decent base and a good stereo experience?
Ta!
I'd say stereo is fine, but the bass is a bit lacking. And obviously the advantage of not having your ears blocked does also mean you can hear all ambient sound. If you're moving around with them on the sound quality and volume does vary a bit, as they're not fixed in place. Overall I find they're good for doing sport outdoors as you can hear the traffic etc, but I don't use them while sitting down listening to music. Of course my situation is different to yours and I don't have a hearing aid to worry about!
I bought a pair of Aftershokz Titanium after seeing a dearer pair on FGF ages ago; I didn't even know they existed before that. I opted for the cheapest pair in case they didn't work, but they did and for the first time in donkey's years I could hear in stereo with earphones (thanks, FGF :)) - thanks to a perforated ear drum, my hearing is almost non-existent in one ear.
I agree with all the points @mogrim raised; the bass is not great, but I can hear clearly in stereo. The vibration in the side of your head if you turn the volume up takes some getting used to and they are quite sensitive to the position on your head.
I don't know much about your condition, so I don't know how effective they'll be for you but I hope this helps.
I have some titanium aftershocks and think they sound like £10 in ear earphones.
However I can do a 2 hour ride with them and my dodgy ears are ok.
Just listened to a couple of songs really quietly with over ear ones and my ears hurt.
Beggars can't be choosers.
I’ve been looking at the ones with built in mp3 for swimming. Anyone got them? I get bored swimming lengths and fancy listening to podcasts to ease the boredom.
Do you get a decent base and a good stereo experience?
Soo... I love new and fancy tech, I really do!
I've got some Aftershox Aeropex..the top line ones.
Sound wise, they compare to £1.99 in hear headphones you'd get in a cracker.
Honestly. They are, frankly, terrble!
But... I continue to use them, as the benefits ARE present ... I'll wear them cycling on the road as
a)wind noise abliterates 'decent' headphone sound anyway
b)i can hear things
Would I wear them to sit down adn chill to teh ambient beats of AIR, Moon Safari..heck no...
Would I cycle with some tinny techno pop "tss tss tsssing" in my brain on teh way along the coast road...yeah...
DrP
I guess they’re ok for chat and podcasts etc dr p?
podcasts (my main use) are great... As, actually, are phone calls. In fact, phone calls seem 'better' than in ear options i've used too.

I have some Aftershokz Trekz Airs; as others have said you wouldn't buy them for the sound quality. I mostly use them for listening to podcasts when running or cycling and they're fine for this. I can't speak for how they'll work with hearing problems but I suffer from tinnitus triggered by sudden loud noises like using a hammer to hit a nail and I have noticed that listening to the Aftershokz can also trigger this, make of that what you will. I should also point out in the interest of good consumer reporting that I'm on my third pair of Aftershokz; their high price is maybe partly justified by their warranty costs.
Thanks all!
I'll knock that idea on the head then! I'd rather not listen to music than it sounding no better than a tin can and a piece of string.
🙂
