There seems to be lots of plumbing experts on here, so: What's the likely cost of a replacement combi boiler for a medium sized detached house (2 bathrooms, but only 1 shower). Same location (on garage wall). Ta!
If you know a guy - £1500 - £1800
If you don't know a guy - £1800 - £2400
If you know a guy from British Gas - £6000
Assuming it's a straightforward boiler swap....
Cost for the kit - about £1100 - £1500

It's a half day job for a pair of competent heating engineers. Full day at a push if there are complicating issues.
We pay our engineers about £150 a day.
In London, the cost of boiler of your choice plus £500-600 labour for a straight swap price depends on ease of access to work, includes flue hole and a meter of pipework below, normally takes 1/1.5 day.
£2000 - 3 months back.
Worcester Bosch.
Included a proper flush of the rads/pipes and a load of shit about how good Brexit is.
I bit my tongue but I'm no poker player........
Good to see the first post at the real end of pricing and what folk should be paying. I got my 35kw combi viesmann for 906 quid, including fancy remote stat and full magna clean (or whatever it's called) kit. Yes I'm in the fortunate position to know a few "guys" and paid them 400 (some cash some cheque) quid I think to fit and register correctly. That boiler comes with a full 7 year parts and labour warranty if serviced every year by a viesmann aprroved engineer, which one of them is.
Paid about £2000 a year ago for a straight swap to an Ideal boiler. Included a new remote thermostat, plus magnetic filter thingy. Seems fine after a year - no issues, plus a 7 year warranty I think. Don't really think about it - it just works.
Edit: 4 bed detached house, 2 bathrooms
Knowing a few contractors I got a Worcester 35kw boiler, 210l Worcester invented cylinder and Worcester controls for £1700. One of my mates is a gas fitter and got the lot in for £200.
Your doing bloody well if you can find a 'competent ' heating engineer working for £150 a day!!!
Our painter/decorators are on £160.
Mind you Perchy, that's probably why it take two of them half a day to do a boiler change.

Must be doing bloody well, I have 12 of them.

No one likes a show off...
Unlike your fitters
Unlike your fitters
Yep, keeping them in poverty with £36k a year and abusing them with all those paid holidays and healthcare schemes and really taking the piss out of them by supplying them with vans and tools.
Next thing you know we'll be keeping them going with a constant supply of work and paying for all their training and certification.
Shower of heartless bastards that we are.
Well in which case that's not such a bad deal, but you will probably be charging your customers a little more than £150 a day for them, which was kind of my point.
Not that much more.
In the sector we work in margins are extremely tight.
And , i'm fairly certain that they could be enticed to do a bit of cash in hand work at the weekend for £150 each a day. They'd probably use the works van and tools into the bargain.
Like I said.....If you know a guy 😉
