I have two doors at side of house, one from kitchen and other into garage, where we have a condensing combi boiler which has a flue exiting.
The steam keeps setting off the PIR when it's running at night.
Is it ok to run a 90 degree elbow on the end of the flue and run it down to the floor above a drain?
I've moved the sensor now to about 6ft away and it still sets it off. Looked at Worcester Flue extensions and they're eye wateringly expensive.
You can get plume management kits but they need to be proper for the flue and properly fitted. Generally they move the plume up not down. It'll be much easier to relocate or modify the pir
I've moved it today, like 8ft away lol. I have a canopy above both doors too so the flue can't go up, but can see why it probably can't go down either
What about shielding the pir? A simple flat sheet so it can only 'see' one way or a tube over it to narrow the field of view. Or a different sensor. All easy to DIY, unlike messing about with a flue
Can’t direct a flue downwards and there are regulations about plume management locations. Also you need to make sure flue is far enough from the opening into the building and also how it is discharging under a canopy too. The boiler instructions will have all that detail.
