The splines on the inside of the tap handle on one of our bath taps have stripped away, not totally but enough that the handle spins and won't turn the valve.

I've tried bodging this a few times with some insulation tape wrapped around the valve where it meets the tap handle. This along with the screw is enough to allow the tap to turn but it only lasts a couple of weeks.

Any suggestions on any other way to bodge a fix without replacing the bath taps entirely (we're planning to redo the bathroom in the new year so don't much want to replace the taps now if I can get away with it).

Epoxy glue - Araldite the tap on.

Have considered that but not keen - Have had to replace the washer twice in the last 2 years. Once glued that is not possible anymore and sods law says that the washer will fail the day after it's glued.

Buy a tap reviver kit and just use the handles? Loads of options out there.

Screw into the side of the handle that bites on the spindle?

How about you replace the washer then bond the tap on. Only got to last until the new year after all.

Buy and fit the taps you'll be using when you redo the bathroom

File a flat on the serrated bit of the tap valve. Place the tap handle back on. Knock a wedge in. Tighten up with the top sceew.

From an idea, not experience. Drill out tap handle to a larger size. Fill tap handle with sugru or that 2 part repair filler/putty you can buy in halfords. Install gently on tap, remove and let it set. Re-install.

Buy a tap revier kit from B+Q or Srewfix or there's a really good online store: https://www.tapmagician.co.uk/TMDefault.aspx

Cost you about £5 a side and save you the bother of bodging it.
