Our house has a built in Bosch oven & micro 🙄
Micro is now not heating stuff up at all, and the turntable is stationary. The fan runs and the timer counts but no heating at all.
Seems a bit odd that the magnetron/flux capacitor (or whatever) is fused in common with the turntable but not the timer & fan
MrsPants thinks we need a new oven (says there's no space for a separate micro as the kitchen is poky already and she does have a point, though it's an expensive point). I'd get somebody in to have a look but I "know" that a blown flux capacitor is usually terminal and I'd rather not waste time before getting it sorted.
... so wondering if anyone on here knows that fault combination and can advise - or even just speculate wildly (though I'd rather you make it obvious if you actually know)
Just wait until you see how much a replacement Bosch built-in microwave will cost you 😂😂
Fear not, Kahurangi for I now know 2 things:
1) They're separates, so probably just cost an arm, not the leg as well
2) Blasting compressed air into the door switches has "fixed" it (for now)
Domestic God - that's me
The glass half full attitude is that you now have an extra cupboard and kitchen timer.
2) Blasting compressed air into the door switches has “fixed” it (for now)
So it was a slow puncture? Perhaps squirt a bit of sealant in there too.
Do you mean combi oven? If so our Siemens unit (BSH - so same as Bosch) does not revolve, so is it possible you never noticed that it did not spin?
If you mean separate units, I have no idea.
No, not tried sealant - yet (unless exploding tomato soup works - that's been in every crevice (repeatedly) I'm sure and is what I suspect may be to blame for this "fault". Don't ask me who I suspect to be to blame but we'll leave it at "did you know that there's a setting below "Chernobyl" on the dial?")
No, tunrtable really does turn. Now. The combination is main oven at bottom with micro on top; separate enclosures.
Brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner is great for sticky switches. Fixed our kettle.
We had a motor die in our microwave. I pulled it out and found the part number, and turns out that thousands of microwaves all use the same part from a far-eastern manufacturer, and they were available for about a fiver on ebay.
