Or, more accurately, partially boarding-out a loft. It's not worth going right over to the eaves, as the roof pitch is quite shallow and it's wasted effort.
I have a plan to board the main/central part of the loft for storage, with 18mm tongued & grooved OSB panels supported on loft legs, and some more insulation below the panels. Now, it's a bit of a given that the legs need to be screwed down to the joists at suitable spacing. But am I right in thinking that the boards need to be fixed down onto the legs too? (I strongly suspect the answer is Yes, but just in case I'm being a bit of a daftie, would someone confirm that's correct please?)
TIA
Yes. Screw.
Just done similar. I could possibly have got away without fixing boards to legs as my boards butt up well to the eaves...but I still put the odd screw in to keep it all well fixed.
In short, yes. Not the 4/leg that they suggest though, one will be fine imo.
Yes, otherwise the boards could slip out of place and you could end up falling through the ceiling!
yeah the legs are plastic and a short woodscrew will go straight through the board, into the leg, holding it nice and securely.
You could probably get away without doing it, but for the sake of £5 in screws and 15 minutes with an impact driver, its not worth not doing it
Great, thanks all, exactly what I suspected.
