So during lockdown me and the missus have re-discovered board games. Seems things have moved on some since our youth. Nowadays the good stuff costs upwards of 40 quid.

So far we have:-

Wingspan: Combines bird nerdiness and cards and we love it.
Sherlock Holmes consulting detective: Its been around awhile and we love that too, expansions will be bought soon.
Everdell : Similar to wingspan, it comes under the " Card engine building" tab in the geeky game universe, also good but not as good as the above.
on order is.. The mansions of Madness: Board game and app combination that has good reviews.

I had no idea there were so many, i knew about Carcassonne but blimey there's hundreds of good games out there.
Anyone else been buying games to get through?

This is probably relevant. There's a more recent thread but it didn't go very far.

... I mean,

Are you looking for recommendations or just a chat?

Wangspin is well regarded but it was massively hyped at the time. Nonetheless, if you enjoy it you enjoy it so who cares.

Does that Sherlock have expansions? I thought they were all standalone games?

Never played Everdell but again, it's well regarded and I do like me a bit of worker placement. If you like deck / engine building you need at least one Dominion in your life.

Mansions of Madness seems to be a bit Marmite, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

+1

Add up the scores as you go along, it's a bit easier than waiting to the end.

This is good, but make a bag for the tiles - far easier to setup & play.
